Anata wa watashi ga zutto mae ni "sayounara" to yutta hito wo omoidasaseru. While he seems to be the easiest of the sacred beasts to use, he still receives hate.
My question is, simply, is he useful in anything besides CB decks?
You remind me of someone I said goodbye to a long time ago.

He is not even useful in a CB deck.

I have one Hamon in my CB deck. If built correctly it can top locals sometimes.

Hamon is only good in a Crystal Beast deck which can easily give you Continuous Spell Cards.

It conflicts too much with other cards.
Good luck protecting your monsters with Rainbow Ruins, drawing with Rare Value, or activating Crystal Abundance with Hamon eating up your crystals.
IMO, it's a bad idea.

i might put him in my sidebord just to p.o my oppts! but my friend has one in his deck! but people keep telling him to take it out in favor for another RD or Dark RD. i say he needs to keep it, cause when hes out, your oppt can only attack him! but he's not a cb, so hes not afforded protection by the ruins! so he does have some good points, such as only atk him, as well as bad, such as eating 3 cb's and no pro with the ruins. i say just have one in there! what can i say, im a rebel! smile

I'm theexpert on Crystal Beasts and Rainbow Dragon doesn't work well enough. Hamon is easy to summon and perfect after Crystal Abundance or in a tight spot. LaDD is also a great card to run aslong as you also run Messenger of Peace.
BTW, Messenger of Peace is the ultimate non-Crystal card to run with Crystal Beasts.

You're gonna have to explain this one to me. Continuous spell cards? In CBs? I mean, other then the CBs or Crystal Tree.

Messenger of Peace is the defence you need to build up your crystals and it's also the only Continuous Spell you can destroy at will to make room for Abundance.

It always got in the way when i had ir, now it's out and good riddance! I also don't like Rainbow Dark Dragon, within a CB deck, it makes no stratigical sense!
