So, who here buys and listens to a lot of soundtrack music? What got you started in buying the soundtracks? Is there a time when you will only buy certain sountracks? What are some of your favorite ones?
Discuss it here!

I don't often buy soundtracks anymore. Why? For the most part, it's because I won't be listening to it very often. Most soundtracks I've encountered have a handful of great tracks scattered amongst dozens of "Ambient music because the characters would be talking at this point of the film" tracks.

Buying a soundtrack is a waste of time and money. Especially when you can just look online for the songs and artists. Unless you're very much into opera a soundtrack seems fine because that's practically the whole movie. You just don't have any visual aids.

Sir Vincent I listen to a lot of video game music. My favorites being Super Mario Galaxy and Castlevania Portrait of Ruin. I like some VGM, as well. But what's strange is how a lot of VGM oftentimes involves classical, and some of the same people who like the soundtracks do not like classical. Anyway, I'm fond of the Bioshock soundtrack, the Final Fantasy soundtracks, and the Silent Hill soundtracks.

Killing Time was my favorite on that one, but Clawfinger was a good one, too. EDIT: And somehow, the title to Killed by Death feels somewhat like an Eddie Izzard joke.

"Equality is a chain, like obedience..."As much as I hate metal, I really like most of the Guilty Gear soundtracks. "Like fear or uncertainty or self doubt."

SaphiraJade GRINDHOUSE! I love the Grindhouse soundtracks, especially Planet Terror's...god...I love the saxaphone.... Grindhouse soundtracks can be pretty fantastic. The soundtrack to "Burial Ground: Nights of Terror" comes to mind immediately. With such a low budget, there were often creative solutions to making a soundtrack.

I used to buy soundtracks all the time before I knew so many artists, now I usually don't like the artist I see on the soundtrack or already own their cd's so I really have no need to buy them anymore...

I find that most of the time, soundtracks and compilation albums are a great way for me to find new bands. If I like a song, I look up the artist on the internet. If I like the artist, I buy a CD. Win.
