A lot of us have been subjected to this and i personally am sick of it.
All the stereotyping and insults been thrown is just rediculous.

Here's an article i made on the A/M/C about it and the replies i got.
Most of which,i found very surprising.

http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/anime-manga-comics/discrimination-against-yaoi-fangirls/t.45129275_1/#11

Have any of you ever been discriminated against?
Also, how did it make you feel?

Personally, not really. The guy in my local anime store seems to think that BL fangirls are nuts (mostly because his friend was...um...quite intense) and I have a boy at school calling me a pervert (even though HE is into lolicon and hentai) But it's never been too bad. I've seen some VERY rude things said to others on the internet though. I mean, we're not all weeaboos.

I wish people would untie their panties, take a few Ritalin and just chill their pickles a little.

I mean, I can read and watch what I want, I'm not insulting you about YOUR hobbies, am I? Seriously, prejudice is prejudice and that's just as bad as racism or sexism. Just because there's a bunch of random idiots on the internet who are all "OMFG SASUNARU IS SO KAWAII DESUUUUUU" doesn't mean we're all like that.

I'm quite sure that most BL fans know fair and well what and who they are, and don't need people labelling them weeaboo just because of their interests.

1) Ritalin is bad... gives a major down when your taken off of it... (take it from someone who knows sweatdrop )
2) while I can be a "rabid fan-girl," so to speak, I only do this around certain people... (and SasuNaru is Kawaii... ninja ) I blame most of my hyperness on my AD/HD (anyone dare tell me it's all in my head and I will hunt you down and kick your a** talk2hand ... It's a real medical problem that is diagnosed way too much, this is a subject I am passionate about evil ... seeing as I do have it.)
But I do agree with you. Just cuz I act a certian way with some people doesn't mean thats how I really feel... I do it mostly cuz it annoys them and their funny when annoyed! 3nodding
And yes, I am a SasuNaru fan... Simply because I am a yaoi fan and I am a die-hard Naruto fan... I know it's not going to happen, so I will live with my nice little fantisies... I do happen to be a NaruHina fan as well, so I know it's not going to happen. whee
And I don't think the "quote" thing is working emo ... I'm leaving it howerver!

I actually posted a reply in that thread.

I'm still standing by the fact that we can do nothing about it. The annoying fangirls have messed it up for us. :/

I don't know about fangirl discrimination but I've received some fanboy discrimination. Well, not directed at me, but definitely stereotyping of yaoi fanboys.

The "all boys who like yaoi are just hormonal emo teenagers who want to be different and want to get laid any way they can no matter what the gender of their partner".

Some of us are legitimately gay, and I have nothing against RL porn, but anime men are better looking than most gay porn stars.

Emos make me pretty angry, too. I think it's because most of them whine about inane things like how their mom won't let them dye their hair blue, or other crap, instead of being legitimately depressed. Also I think the "bisexual" thing they do is just an excuse to be a slut. The majority of teenagers these days who say that they are aren't actually bi, they just say so because they think it makes them cool and gives them a reason to "not be understood".

But... That's a totally different subject, so I'll shut up now.

I hate to break it to you girl....but that stereotype exists because it's generally the truth.

Sure like most cases there are many exceptions, but in this case majority rules out.

Pretty Pretty Priceless

I've never been judged for liking yoai, except from my parents... ssshh ;D they don't know~ even though they bought me gravitation~ lol but I think it shouldn't matter, as long as you don't go overboard and bother people who don't like it. If they don't like it then leave them alone, and just accept the fact they they're not in to that kind of thing. Not everyone is going to love yoai~

I have never been discriminated against for liking Yaoi because I really dont talk about it to anyone I mostly keep it to myself. When I go to anime conventions I will talk about it with someone if they like it too but thats about it. I think the reason some people say bad things about some people who like Yaoi is because of noobish rabid fangirls who get too hyper when they talk about their favorite slash pairings or when they say that their favorite manga is a Yaoi or BL when it isnt a Yaoi or a Boys Love. Dont get me wrong I do love Yaoi and Boys Love and I enjoy reading them very much. I just dont like the kind of fans who get real defensive and make the normal fans look bad when they get all rabid or noobish about a series they like.

And I came here to make a thread about how A/M/C yaoi population doesn't know when to stop neutral

Your average self-proclaimed "yaoi fangirl" from the A/M/C is just as intelligent as a handicapped duck. If you meet one of those retards IRL it's 200 times worse, with their screaming and general lack of common sense.
And YOU try to tell people how generalization is pissing you off. In case you didn't realize it yet: they have perfectly fine reasons for hating and discriminating against yaoi fangirls. We call it "collective responsibility".

I have not had problems since I became a fangirl (mostly cause I'm smart and I look like I can kick butt), but I did have fangirl hate before I became a fangirl.

I apologize if in the past I have offended anyone who is here. In my deffense before I became a fangirl there were three girls I knew who were the sterotypical fangirls who knew nothing...15, dumb, overly-hyper, and could only name Gravitation.

Since I friend showed me the light and I became a fangirl I now make dam sure to get to know someone before judging. I know from experience that there are awesome fangirls out there, but there are also those who spoil it for the rest of us... most haters probably know one of the bad apples.

It's sad and annoying but it's part of being a fangirl. We just have to show the world that their are better fangirls out there.

The rabids take thing too far I think. Especially the straight ones calling themselves "seme" and "uke" when they are not a gay boy. It doesn't refer to anything more than the prefered sexual position. Also what bugs me is the "Will Yaoi for fangirls." What the ******** is that? Since when do we force straight guys to have sex with each other in order to get fan girls. I don't understand it. But then again the Twilight fangirls are so much worse I can't even begin to explain.
