I saw an old goth the other day.

I saw her from behind at first and I thought she was a teenager. She was in good shape and had frizzy, vampire red hair that was cut short and hung just above her shoulders. She was wearing a gothic lolita dress with purple and black striped arm warmers and New Rock boots.

And then she turned around, and I realised her hair was frizzy because it had long ago gone grey. It was white at the roots. She'd aged well but her crows' feet were so deep that she was clearly over 60. I thought it was pretty cool that she was from a totally different generation but was dressed just like me!

So, GGG, where do you see yourself when you become a retiree? Will you have an illustrious past career to look back on? Will you still be a goth? Will you be some crazy old bat who lives with 27 cats?

Personally, I think I'll have a whole bunch of parrots by the time I'm old. My housemate and I have got into the habit of adopting birds that go begging, whether they're tame or wild. She's brought home doves, mynahs and blackbirds in need of care, and she's just adopted a cockatiel. I can just see the two of us together as spinsters, living in a cottage so old it has no right angles left in it, filled with all manner of plants and birds. And I'll still be wearing black lace and velvet. People will look at me and think I'm crazy.

Hopefully somehow not too old looking. Which is unlikely, since I eat nothing but junk and never wear sunscreen. I don't normally dress gothic on a daily basis even now, so I'll probably wear regular old lady clothes but maybe with a bit more black then usual. i have no idea what I want to do with my life so who knows what kind of job I will have had, if I'll be married or have kids. I'd like to think I'd have a career in art or music behind me, or maybe something more normal such as teaching. I'd kind of like to have one child (no more then that though.) and a couple grandkids by the time I'm 74.

Hmm....

1) dead
2) mental hospital
3) richest person in Moscow
4) owning some sort of buisness empire and being amazingly rich
5) crazy hobo
6) a really cool old person who makes awesome cookies and...uh...owns a castle in Sweden. I don't know. 60 years is a loooooong time....

Maybe I'll start a cult. Meh.

... 60+26= death. Really, if I'm still alive by then I'll need someone to make it so I'm not. Everything starts to go when your old, and I really prefer not having a pill cocktail every morning just to get through the day. ^^*

I'm 28, but I fully hope to make it to 88. My grandfather made it all the way to 89 and was healthy right up until the end, when he had a sudden stroke that did him in. He was fond of telling me never to grow old, though, because he had all these minor aches and pains and would tell you about it ad nauseum if you gave him half the chance. When I'm that age I hope I'll be more positive.

I'm with you. I want one kid and no more. I don't think I'd have the energy to keep up with more than that. I'm hoping I'll have a grandkid or two when I'm old, and I'm definitely going to have a musical career to look back on. The only question now is whether it will be a successful musical career. I'm an out of work singer right now and I don't have nearly enough gigs to keep my head above water, but I'm only just starting out, so that may change.

Everyone on my mother's side has lived well into their 90's. My great grandfather in Russia lived up to 109, then he moved here, took some medicine a hospital gave him, and he died.

109 is pretty damn impressive. eek

I'd probably be in a large bag 20,000 leagues under the sea after too many drinks.
Yes, those are the kind of friends I have, and I love 'em for it.

Bingo.
Among other things I hope to accomplish I might also have...
1) become a "mature" adult star...and I'll have won awards for it.
2) lived an amazing life of crime that involved stealing from a convenient store and promising to pay later without actually doing so!....I can't do that, I'm a softie, I'll pay back.
3) Imagining my son having kids is funny...he just started writing and just left diapers but if he should, let them be writers! One of them will then begin my life story...if they want cookies when they visit grammaw.
4)I hope to still be goth but the idea of being 78 in futuristic platforms scares me. I hope to have been a painter at one point. ^_^
