Now that I've word- and link-barfed all over the forum catching up, I thought I'd pose a new question.

A Kemetic Orthodox tradition is that a divination shows which one of the Netjeru is sort of overseeing the coming year. The year that is soon drawing to a close according to their calendar was under the purview of the Bawy. Short version...the Bawy is "Team Set & Heru-wer" (Heru-wer being the Heru that is Set's brother, not His nephew). Some of the characteristics of a Bawy year are overcoming challenges, weathering and indeed delighting in the storm, discovering your potential and honing it into a formidable weapon. Plenty of opportunities to find and show your true strength.

I'm not going to suggest that everyone else's year should have matched this description, but it got me thinking:

-What spiritual or personal challenges have you faced (that you are willing to share)?
-Were you victorious or did it not go so well?
-Do your gods or spirits set task or challenges before you?
-Do you love challenge or does it tire you out?
-How much help do you get from your faith (gods, spirits, sacred writing, human community) when hardships arise?
-Are your gods likely to help you out if you need a boost or do they prefer you lie in the bed you made?
-Does your tradition have any precedent for destroying or sacrificing an old self to forge a new one?
-What sacrifices do your gods ask of you, if any?
-Anything else that relates that you'd like to share?

And if any of these questions just don't really apply, I'd love to know how. smile I'll answer myself in a bit.

-What spiritual or personal challenges have you faced (that you are willing to share)? Well, the end of last year saw the biggest challenge (spiritually)I ever had. Being pulled in a unfamiliar direction to gods that didn't fit with my previous path.

-Were you victorious or did it not go so well? I was victorious. I pretty quickly realised that this was where I wanted to be all along and I haven't looked back. I have close relationships with several gods and honour many more.

-Do your gods or spirits set task or challenges before you? Sometimes. On the 8th of every month (athenian calendar) I do a ritual for poseidon in which we review the months goals and set new ones. Sometimes the ones set are rather odd. 0_o

-Do you love challenge or does it tire you out? I like them. Even if they weird me out, it's exiting. xD

-How much help do you get from your faith (gods, spirits, sacred writing, human community) when hardships arise?
The community sucks hardcore in some places, but the writings are nice.
I like the delphic maxims, they're a great kick in the teeth.

-Are your gods likely to help you out if you need a boost or do they prefer you lie in the bed you made? They tend to help, particularly my patrons. It really depends on the context though I think.

-Does your tradition have any precedent for destroying or sacrificing an old self to forge a new one? I can think of some mythical archetypes for such things, but largely not.

-What sacrifices do your gods ask of you, if any?
They tend not to ask for anything specific. But I'm not close enough to many to know.

Same as usual. Loss, guilt, depression and personal insecurities.

Depends on the challenge. The loss and insecurities seem to be going pretty well. Guilt and depression? Win some loose some.

ninja Challenges unto themselves? No. Not really. Debts to be paid? Always.

Depends on the challenge.

In so much that I have an integrated world view- my friends are a function of me which is a function of my faith etc. By that measure- a lot of help.

Though- Bok is a wonderful thing to have. With Bok- I wouldn't mind being hip deep in s**t.

My gods are likely to meet their natures- depending on the god and the situation.
Quote:

Nope. In fact- such would directly contradict the dynamic of the self and the world.
Quote:

Often food/drink, scents, art and money.
