So, since I was gone for a while I missed a lot of stuff and I'm still clueless and things, such as the evolving items.

What exactly are they and how do they work?

Evolving items are items that may be bought from either the Gaia cash store, Market Place, or if you go into the Gaia Exchange Forums. You may also obtain them if a friend or other Gaian, who may have one or may buy you one, give one or so to you.
What you do is you keep them in your inventory and as the days and weeks go on with you owning them, they will soon start going through several stages. Stages as in, as they go on there will be several options on how to equip the item.

Once an evolving items has reached its final stage, you would then be able to use all of the other equip options for it.

Evolving items come in Generations.
Generations are sort of like how a family is.
With every new Generation of the item it will start out 'Young'.
Young meaning with the first stage.

Such as the 1st Generation of an evolving item.
They start out 'Young'.
But, as the items go on more and more Generations come in.
So, lets say the 1st Generation is on stage 5 or so.
When 2nd Generation comes in, the 2nd Generation of the item starts at stage 1.
The 2nd Generation item will get to stage 5 but, it will take time like the 1st Generation.

That was my guess, but I wasn't sure.

Can you sell 5th 4th, 5th, etc. generations for more than the 1st generation?
For example, if I buy 1st generation and I wait a while, can I sell it for more later?

{ Well, you can't really sell like 4th or 5th or so Generations more then the 1st.
As 1st Generations are the ones that get to final stage firsts.

Well, you should consult someone who can work the Market and Exhange Forum on selling.

I wasn't questing anything in particular, I just wanted to know more about the evolving items.
I really like Hermes Moon & Fausto's Bottle, but I couldn't afford those.
Geez, why are they so expensive?

And I have both.... would you like one or the other, or both?

Is it possible to get the 1st generation of items that have already evolved?

Only if they're given to you or bought from the MP. If you initiate a trade with me, I'll give them to you. I don't have first gen, but they're both fully evolved.
