Looking for New Management of the Guild

As many of you many have noticed I've been spending less and less time on gaia over the past year or so. Much of this has more to do with personal reasons but as a result I feel that I haven't been doing a very good job of maintaining this guild. Since I feel it's unfair of me to retain ownership of the guild due to my lack of active participation I am opening up this thread to see who would be interested in continuing on the spirit of this guild.

Duties of a Captain Include:
~ Picking good moderators
~ Keeping things fun and interesting
~ Punishing people who actively break the rules
~ Making sure the rules are being followed
~ Making fair and just rulings on gray areas


Since this guild really is something I've cared about for a long time, I would like to be able to retain a moderator status so I can still check in periodically and help out on occasion. Since this is a big change I would ask people to please answer a few questions.

I will read through the answers given, and eventually choose who I feel to be the best next mistress, captain, and guiding light to bring this guild towards becoming what it should be instead of letting it languish in the half life it currently seems to experience.

I would never apply for the position, and it is saddening to see it even offered. I just was wondering, are you planning on having people post in this topic, or sending you a private message? Both ways work, but I have never felt comfortable with public applications.

Either way, this is both understandable and saddening. Whatever else happens, you will always be welcome with the people of this guild.

Really whatever people feel more comfortable with. My PMs are open to anyone who chooses that particular route, and of course the thread is in the state that anyone who chooses to do so can post within it.

What direction do you see yourself taking this guild?
Democratic The direction of a community should not be changed simply because someone desires to change it. A community directs itself via the personalities/interactions of the people therein.

How long have you been active in the guild?
3 years. 1 1/2 years as 'active' and another 1 1/2 years as 'other.'

What changes would you like to make to the current structure?
Give the direction to the users See question 1

Have you ever run a guild before?
Several/not restricted to Gaiaonline. Also of
note should be that I on a daily basis manage approximately 12 employees off and on.

Do you feel like you've ever had troubles in the guild that haven't been addressed?
Not applicable Any issues that have arisen in the past have been addressed/resolved.

What is your least favorite thing about the guild as it is currently?
Short of active staff. Sub-forums a bit cluttered with unrelated generic content. Many instances of both

How often do you spend time in the guild?
Honestly, the Guild has changed over the past 2 years. I used to spend 6-8 hours, if not more, daily here. However, lately I find it hard to give that much time a week. This place used to be my home. People just seemed to stop caring. Certain staff found other activities to allocate time towards and the Guild, as a result, took an alienating turn for me.


Do you like to create games to help involve others?
Yes, very much so. Retention is pivotal. If a user has nothing visibly current, then he/she is likely to go elsewhere. Frequent updates/activities etc.


How do you usually handle stressful situations?
Thinking It should be an obvious response. If presented with a stressful situation, I'd address/resolve the situation while maintaining a neutral perspective and tone.

What is your definition of goth?
I don't know. People that like the same things I do. I have no definitions for ideals that segregate people. The classification should not even exist.

First of all let me say - thanks for letting me into the guild. I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you wonder:full people.

Secondly, since I am relatively new to Gaia (I've had my synunoi account for a few years, and just opened this one up for a personal account... my synunoi account is my RPC mostly) I wouldn't feel comfortable applying for such an important position. However, I would be interested in helping to moderate the guild if the soon-to-be new owner, and the other mods were okay with that.

I've helped to moderate communities online at Live Journal, and have even had my own community back in the day (it was a community for my used-to-be website spoOkie poOpie, co-hosted by my friend Lee Lee).

I do believe that I'd be a great addition to the team, and I'd really like to get things going here on Gaia, as I'm quite fond of this website.

Sorry if this post isn't necessarily "on topic," but I felt it necessary to say here, because of the importance of this post.

What direction do you see yourself taking this guild?

I want to give people a reason to come here whenever they’re on Gaia. I’d like to have more contests and events to bring the guild together and make it more exciting, and also some new and interesting topics that they can discuss. That’s about it. Anything more major should be talked about with the rest of the guild first…

How long have you been active in the guild?

About two years I’d say…

What changes would you like to make to the current structure?

There really isn’t anything that is in dire need of fixing in my opinion. If there’s anything wrong that I’d want to fix, I’d ask the guild on their opinion before I changed anything. The only reason I would change something without informing the guild and asking their thoughts was if there was a serious issue that was being ignored, but I would never let anything come to that point.

Have you ever run a guild before?

Never. I’ve been a debate moderator before though (in real life).

Do you feel like you've ever had troubles in the guild that haven't been addressed?

I’ve never had any trouble here.

What is your least favorite thing about the guild as it is currently?

The quality of the posts and the activity of the users…some people just post “hey I like that band too they are on my iPod” and then they never come back to the guild or they hardly ever add to anything except a member count. I just wish people would be a little more involved, but I certainly wouldn’t punish anyone if they weren’t.

How often do you spend time in the guild?

Almost daily, I surf around and post whenever I have something serious (or funny and joking) to say. I might have to cut back a bit as school starts again.


Do you like to create games to help involve others?

Oh yes! Of course! *smiles broadly and eerily*I will make the Got Goth Guild an excellent place to stimulate your endorphins and bring people together! If this counts, I’m always the ice-breaker at parties and such.

How do you usually handle stressful situations?

Keep calm; try to get a little organized. Don’t lose your head and get a heart attack, (nothing will be accomplished then), and look at all sides of the problem (if there is one) to try and fix it. Take everything into account, and work with others to find the best possible solution. If it’s just a matter of getting things done, do things one at a time.

What is your definition of Goth?

Ooh, the fun part…My definition of Goth is, in no particular order: 1) A fan of Goth rock (the real stuff, not Manson and such). 2) Someone who dresses in a gothic fashion and enjoys the more material bits of the subculture. 3) Someone who enjoys other aspects of Goth, such as the various literature and art styles.

Of course this is all subjective to a degree, there are people who’d completely disagree with me about #2, and there are people who might only agree with me about #3. *shrugs*No problem, I like it when people have their own opinions.

Well um I would like to take this position because well I am very creative cause I can look at anything and think of something to do with it and where a see myself taking this guild the answer would be very far for the goth population also my definition of goth would be its a way a life you chose and respect and we are the definition of darkness evil also i spend a lot of time on this when I am bored so that is it.

I have considered applying for management, I've loved this guild from the first day I joined.
I especially love being the Apple Fritter Chairman and the Quote Tree King biggrin

Alas, my work schedule would make it difficult for to be able to put in the appropriate time that I feel this guild deserves. I may be attending school soon, and that would severly cut my time even shorter.

I therefore nominate XWraith_LordX as well. I believe this person will do the guild [insert nice speech].
My second choice would be Relik San. I respect this man a lot, and feel he would make another wonderful leader.

I would like to become Captain of this guild because....

You said I wouldn't be on Gaia long enough to commit to the guild, but yet, here I am!

I would be a good choice because:
- I made this guild, haha
- I upkept it while I owned it
- I made graphics for it
- Made the guide, etc. etc.
- I also had many activites avaialble for the guild whiel I had it.

If I had the guild back, I would probably pick out some new sub-captains and give the place a re-vamp. Fix up the front page, etc...
