DE's Painting and Modeling Junk


Hey, all! This is the thread I'm going to toss all my painting and modeling endeavors into. This includes current projects, complete projects, potential projects, etc; each will be included in posts in the beginning of this thread, and can be discussed at will! Now that it's summer, I ought to be able to update this pretty frequently. I love feedback, be it criticism or anything, so please post if you have anything to say.

Potential Projects


This post, I'll be posting details of stuff I have the ability to start working on at any given time, but haven't actually really started yet.

Forgeworld Death Korps of Krieg Commissar This model was given to me as a birthday present from Lt. Brookman, I haven't had a chance to work on it yet, and I kinda want to get back into the habit of painting before I work on it, lest I do a less-than-par job. |1|

Eldar Storm Guardians I did some bitz trading a while back and got the arms required to convert 10 standard Guardians to Storm Guardians, the close combat varient. I have more than enough Guardian bodies and the like to work on these as a squad (leftovers from the Eldar Battleforce box). |No pictures available|

Space Marine Tactical Squad I have a large number of partially-built Space Marines that I got for Christmas a year or two back that I ought to finish putting together and build. |1|

Eldar Swooping Hawks This is a squad of 10 I was gifted by Andreis, that I haven't started mostly because I intend to drill small holes in their rear ends so I can mount them on flying bases. |No pictures available|

Imperial Guard Psykers I have two psykers from a blister pack I got ages ago that I've yet to do much of anything with. These'd make a relatively short project, maybe something good to start up with. |1|

Scenery: Barricades This is a piece of scenery/terrain you can never have enough of; I have a couple works in progress, but the supplies to build many, many more. |1|

Tyranid Carnifex Didn't think I'd get one of these so soon, but it's going to be heavily converted; probably killing a tank or ripping a guardsman to shreds. |No pictures available|

Hormagaunt Brood Woot! These'll be good for filling up troops. The more the... Well, bloodier. ^^; |No pictures available|

Termagaunt Brood I've got a bunch of these, but they're the Macragge stuff; now I'll be able to intersperse epic conversions of Gaunts among the more regular ones. |No pictures available|

Warrior Brood More synapse, makes me happy. I'll probably make these double-scythe ones to charge and wreak havoc with the Hormaguants. |No pictures available|

Genestealer Brood Tasty... |No pictures available|

Ripper Bases Counted them up, got 11 rippers in the new battleforce, enough for 3 bases. Adds up to 6 total with the others in the works. |No pictures available|

This is the post I'll be updating with projects that I'm currently working on, probably usually only one or two at a time.

Tyranid Warriors I finished one of the three Tyranid Warriors I own, half-finished another, and the third is just basecoated. I need to get these all done. Currently working on: Bleached bone on Warrior 3.

Projects on Hold


This post is for projects that I've started, but put on the shelf for a while and are in a half-completed state. There'll probably be a lot of these. sweatdrop

Imperial Guard Veteran Squad This is a project I've had going for a while. I've had remarks in the past from people thinking that the tan parts were molded resin, I'd like to clarify that they're simply from sprues that I had base-coated Bleached Bone. Squad |1| Sargeant |1|

Eldar Jetbike A jetbike equipped with a Shuriken cannon and a gung-ho pilot holding up his own catapult as he rides. |1|

Imperial Guard Chimera A transport intended for my veteran squad, which is also under construction. The fun bit of this is that the rear hatch opens and closes, thanks to greenstuff and an imbedded pin. Note also the multi-colored window shading. |1|2|3|4|

Tyranid Ripper base Mostly a centerpiece/conversion project, showing a guardsman being consumed by five of the ravening beasts. |1|2|

Macragge Gaunts 22 of the two-piece Guants, mostly bitz-ordered, so I got these cheap to suppliment my troop forces. |No pictures available|

Traded Rippers I got some Rippers in trade from a friend the other day, 8 of them, but they're busted off at the tail and have a crappy paintjob on them, so I'll need to do some serious work with them. |No pictures available|

Tyranid Hive Tyrant: Conversion Centerpiece I have an untouched (though opened) Hive Tyrant model that I'm planning to do in a heavy duty showcase conversion, with the Lash Whip curling around a Guardsman's neck and another Guardsman hiding behind a ledge or rock.

Completed Projects


This is the post where all the stuff I've started and completed in this thread will be put, so people can see old stuff I've done.

Imperial Guard Leman Russ A Leman Russ from a Battleforce box that I never got around to completing. There'll be a custom Heavy Stubber on the pintle, since I lost the original one. sweatdrop

I actually ended up finding another stubber on a sprue, so I used that. I completely re-primed and started from scratch on this one Friday night, took me about 3 hours.|1|2|3|*|4|5|6|7|

Imperial Guard Fire Support Squadron A heavy weapons squadron loaded up with Autocannons. Again, started these ages ago, never fully finished them. They got battered around a little too, so they need minor repairs like re-attaching that guardsman.

These were completed hastily for some gaming at the GW, so they're not entierly up to par, but they're still decent. Completed July 12. |1|*|2|

Space Marine Sniper Scouts I painted two squads of Space Marine Scouts for my GW's "Iron Man Painter" contest, which means I brought them in to show them on Saturday at noon, and I needed a complete 10 man squad by Sunday at 5:00 PM, to compete against others doing the same thing. These scouts are what I did, and I won; took a box of Cadian infantry home as a prize.

New! Model Replacement: Commander Drake Vendric One of the things I'm doing is going through old commanders in my armies and making new, more fitting models for them. One of the simplest I started was my Space Marine second-in-command, Commander Drake Vendric.

Okay, I decided to work on my Tyranid Warrior squad first.

I already have one of the three Warriors completed, one is just basecoated, and one is half-done. In a few moments, I'll edit this post to include pictures of all three.

Hive Fleet Kraken colors oho!

Not bad, though the front of the weapon of your completed Warrior looks like it needs another coat. Im not sure maybe its just my eyes. (That and I hate Bleached Bone).

Also may I add, Venom Cannons are your friends. ^_^

Started painting today, working on Warrior 2, polishing up the Bleached Bone portions, starting with the ribs and such; I'll post pictures later today when I have that more or less done.

Most impressive again. But may I inquire why Hive Fleet Kraken's Color's?

For nids... I find the hardest spot painting are the Rib cages. Trying to get in between each section is quite a bugger.

Once assembled, I'd say the insides of some of the arms/legs are hardest. The ribs are at least all relatively available for the brush, but it's a tight squeeze with some of the limbs.

As to why Kraken... I felt like doing a GW paint scheme for once, and Kraken had the most kick-a** of the Nid ones. razz Neon purple or red/blue didn't do it for me.

As to the models, I've got ALL the Bleached Bone on Warrior 2, I'm waiting for it to dry, then I'll have pictures up. Say, next 20 minutes or so.

So how big do you intend to get your Nids?

Oh yea! don't forget to paint those spots between some limbs, you know those detail points. Damn what would be a term for them.. Muscle?
