I am not sure if this has already been brought up here, but I'll make this topic anyway.

Have you guys heard about what the british newspaper The Daily Mail has said about My Chemical Romance? It started around the release of The Black Parade, when they called them 'a emo death cult'. In september last year, a 13 year old girl hung herself with a tie from her bunk bed, after a fight with her parents. Her name was Hannah Bond, and was a fan of MCR. Now, The Daily Mail blames My Chemical Romance for her death.

In respond to this; some fans have had enough.
There has been alot of blogging and petitions signed these last day; and now a girl came up with the brilliant idea of protesting against The Daily Mail's accusing of My Chemical Romance.

On the 31 of May, fans will march the streets where The Daily Mail has its headquarter in London. It will be peaceful to show the positive side of My Chemical Romance.

I think that's an awesome idea of the whole march. It'll show that stupid Daily Mail that MCR don't want their fans commiting suicide. biggrin

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I think as well that it's the greatest idea ever. But since I live in Sweden, I won't be able to participate. sweatdrop
But I do my best to spread the word.

Could somebody be an angel and post the link to the website and some information about the protest on other sites, MCR fanclubs, or even in their signature etc?
I would be much appreciated!

I don't live in the UK either, I live right next to it. I think we get The Daily Mail, not sure.

And yes, we must spread the word of this! pirate

I live in the U.S. and if some newspaper near me did that, I'd probably do the same thing. Go UK fans!

There was a CBS brodcast that did a horrible job on "EMO: what is it" report and included several clips of MCR videos underneath "Music that depressses children and may cause them to hurt themselves". Youtube has the video up under "Emo on CBS". There was a page here on the guild on that and I wouldn't be surpirsed it if isn't to late to put up some seriously negative comment.

I'm personally appalued anyone could blame MCR for the suicide of the poor girl, may she rest in heaven. Its sad when youth do that, and I think what we all should do is be there for others, make sure no one is so silent they go unnoticed until it was too late. I'd personally sugest these kind of kids on the bink listen to MCR, but sometimes no one can help sadly. When it happens..... NO ONE IS AT FAULT!!!!!!!! NO BODY!! That newspaper/rag had no right to go pointing fingers, and even then at the ones who were telling people to NOT hurt/kill/damage themselves!!!

I wish I could be there, but I'm a US kid (it sucks here!!) If I were UK, you could count me in, but I'm a few ponds over too many! Any UK kids helping out, thank you, god speed, try not to get aressted and be safe! Carry ON!

Thanks for all the replys and support, guys!

I would, again, appreciate if you spread the word of the protest. It has already been posted on myspace, buzznet, facebook and in the MCRmy forum and several other places. But if you know any other sites, post the information there and I'll personally sanctify you!

The girl who is in charge of the site said that yesterday 128 people has signed up for the protest. It's going strong, but more people would be great!

TV Suicide: I saw that on youtube! It was terrible.

I so agree with you. The teenagers that are commiting suicide are doing it by their own choice. They know that once they commit suicide, there's no coming back. Parents, the media, etc shouldn't be blaming bands that they listen to. I think the people that think the people that listen to bands like MCR are self-harming people, it's just somewhat annoying.

Listen up, people! I've heard NZ and Ireland are planning a similiar event as this. I don't know any further details, but keep your ears open about it if you live in any of those countries and would like to participate.

People coming to the protest in London: 335 so far.

Edit: NME and perezhilton.com wrote about the march.

Stinkini: Great! ^^

The protest has gained great publicity, but alot of sites and newspapers are still calling My Chem and us, the fans, "emo". I'm really starting to get sick of that.

And the London march "soldiers" will soon reach 400.
