Know how unfair it is to have some gaia nub get one of these things and by chance pop out a mythrill coin worth 1 mill? I mean.. wow.

I mean, I myself wouldn't mind getting 1mil, but it wouldn't be right. Since Gaia's now pretty much officially letting people buy their wealth. With cash. This is sell-out status right here. They entice people with virtual wealth so they can get money.

this bag is retarded. i hat it its going to screw up everything in the MP for the next two or three months. and its just a stupid idea. i know they need the money but this is the lowest of low's I've seen from them. i'm not getting that bag.

Gaia has always gotten 110% of their funding from advertisements, Alway always always. Anything they make on the side(cash shop, collectibles, etc.) is pure profit. Though they usually use it to make "improvements" to the site, it doesn't dispute the fact that they're selling out to increase their own fiscal profit margins.

I disagree that the cash shop and collectibles are just profit for themselves.
They might make a lot of money off of it, but that in no way means that Gaia is swimming in cash all the time.

I still think that the site costs more to run than you think it does.

Dear, I used to hang out in an internet gaming cafe, I KNOW how much it costs to run that kinda stuff(cuz the owner and manager managed his own private network for tourneys).
The most expensive thing is server maintenance, actual site design and upkeep(as in the software, not the hardware) is pennies compared to it. The rest of their budget goes into advertising and development(the former raking in more cash because that's what advertisements do, and the latter is a liberty, luxury costs for things they don't need.) If you remember right, two years ago, or so, we didn't have all these fancy artsy things, contests, and features. And you know what? Gaia was awesome! Now look at it. Because the staff has more money to work with they're throwing quantity at us, over quality.

What is it? Every week a new cash shop thingus and/or promotional contest(movie promotions and such?) Do we need them? no. Why do we have them? Cuz Gaia has a larger budget to work with.

Larger budget means larger net gain, means more money than they know what to do with.
