Examples: 65.5% of all South Koreans wear fake faces.
Japanese celebrities are obsessed with plastic surgery and they want to look Caucasian
Skin whiteners are very popular in China, India and Southeast Asia.

I consider these people (The plastic faced ones) their country's traitors, who prefer to look like European/Eurasian people rather than cherishing their own natural beauty.

And yet the people, swoon over these fabricated faces and worship them as an ideal, these plastic-faced traitors of their heritage and patrimony?

Proof

Discuss: The plague that is plastic surgery, westernization and rampant commercialism thats destroying the sanctity of Asian heritage.

It's called a career in the media.
If you're not going to be funny to anyone, you're going to have to look good, and if the agency you're employed by thinks you're ugly as dog's balls, they're gonna want to mess with your face.

Comedians can at least incorporate their ugliness into their act - singers, actors and models cannot.

Now, to relate this to the media's consumer, teens - they don't really care or notice. I bet they know for a fact that they'll never get with their favourite singer, so long as they look hot, they don't care.
And the whole of Asia is America's little b***h when it comes to influence - nobody can be blamed here.

Or maybe people have got time to notice how ugly they seem to themselves, and enough money lying around to fix it, so it's done just for the sake of it.

Show me several Asians who are not singers, actors or models who have plastic surgery done to their face, and that will nullify my argument.

tl;dr - consumers don't care, companies exploit lack of care

I won't say anything about models but.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I can give you a bunch of example of singers who obviously have never had plastic surgery.
(the "Samba Masters" in Japan, "Christophe Willem" in France and others...)

The same goes for actors:
Gerard Depardieu (in France).

(Well in the case of Jackie Chan... does deformation due to accident count as plastic surgery? xd )

A lot of singers and actors do plastic surgery but not ALL of them.

Well, I know that not ALL musicians/actors/models have received plastic surgery.

But outside of those people, not many people WILL receive plastic surgery, ESPECIALLY Asian people who aren't of those professions listed. You'll see the odd "rich Asian" that does whatever they want with their money, but other than that...

To make my point even more obvious, OP posted a pic of Ayumi Hamasaki, a singer.

when my friend and i visited the philippines on two separate occasions we couldn't help but notice the reality of asians not completely satisfied with how they look. females here and there were getting nose jobs, face lifts, etc. there are bleaching lotions, face wash, toners, etc. and tons of sun protection. there are also those who wear pants in the philippines hot weather to the beach or anywhere jst to protect their skin. etc. etc.

but i'm not really sure what i'm talking about. this whole business about people getting surgery and whatnot is just crazy. there will always be someone out there that won't be satisfied with how they look and are pretty damned quick to want to change that by any means.

that includes asians. if they see something they like and have a way to get it, they're probably going to want to do certain things. etc etc.

srry if i don't make sense. this all just came off the top of my head. lol

If you look at Ayumi, you'll notice she does not look caucasian
almod shaped eyes,
"asian haircut"
roundish face
small mouth

people usually jump at the thought of eye surgery as barbaric and westernized. Personaly I don't think they look western at all, if anything, asians tend to look more "doll like" because of their softer features.

In other words, what the media protrays as beauty in asia is not to look caucasian, but to look younger and more child-like. That is why there is a sudden increase for eyes to become larger, not because they are betraying their heritage.

What is "cute" is veiwed as beautiful, feminine and innocent in asian media.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they're traitors, it all a part of advertising. That's the way the world is, you can't honestly say that everything nice looking you eat is good for you and vice versa. They are trying to do the best at their job because they know that people actually have enough insecurity to care about things like that, that's why it sells.

I like these strong words 3nodding

Go Andrew Lam.

As for input on this subject, I haven't really heard about this. After reading this thread, I still feel a little skeptic. I do agree with Andrew Lam on how Japan's Manga has put so much westernized things in themselves.

Laundromat, I know what you're talking about. I wear pants all the time because I don't want my legs to get tanner than they are right now. I dislike having tan skin at all, and I'd take any chance of going to china and sitting in one of their de-tanning booths. I'm just a huge fan of Pale skin, as is most of Asia.

Also, since we're on the topic of westernization, I'll make a reference to hair. There already was another thread on this, I think. But, what about Asians who dye their hair blonde? gonk I have to admit, sometimes it looks cool, but the only reason why I'd accept it is if that person wos cosplaying. Otherwise, I think it's kinda dumb. But I'm okay with any other color.

What if Asians are addicted to plastic surgery?
Caucasians are too.
If big eyes and straight noses makes you feel more confident about yourself, who are we to stop them?
When their profession requires them to look good, you have to be willing to make some changes. Think about this: If two people apply for one job and both have the same skills, the boss is going to hire the better-looking person.

Nuuu.. I love Jackie Chan! All his fighting movies were mad good. 3nodding

Otherwise, I do have to say that a lot of Asians (I suppose) have plastic surgery to look more Caucassion, but I personally would never do that. To each his own and all that crap. I just don't believe that changing how your face looks should affect how others see you. If it makes you feel better and you have the money for it, then go ahead. I could never see myself getting plastic surgery unless I had an accident that required piecing my face back together, but even then I don't think I would choose to look more Western than Asian... and by asian I mean chinese.

Well, I guess it depends on what kind of job it is, and who the employer is.
