2008 instead of 2009?
This is the stupidest thing Paramount could have done.
Look on the bright side: More time = better movie.
Eh, who cares, it'll suck anyway.

Yes, It's true. Star Trek was originally going to come out on December 25 of this year, but It's new release date is set for May 8, 2009.

You can head over to trekmovie.com for more information, just scroll down the page (on the site) to find the story. It's not hard to miss.

I'm still ambivalent about the new movie, but I know I don't like having to wait even longer to see it.

You know, last Christmas I became very excited that I only had to wait one more year for new Trek (I need to get a life, don't I?), and now I have to wait more than a year. How depressing.
Still, I hope this means that JJ Abrams will make a f**king good film in the year he has left.

I don't know if it's going to be a good movie or not, but if it's not good, and they make me wait longer, then I'll feel even more ripped off.

I hope it's going to be a good movie if they bump the time till 2009.

Here is why it was bumped back:
Trek's release date shift "was part of a major reshuffling to the studio's release calendar, as well as DreamWorks' release calendar. Studio insiders said Star Trek has the potential to gross more in May than in December."

The trade points out that, as of right now, only two other films are slated for release in May 2009: X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Shutter Island.

You're ******** kidding me D:
I was actually looking forward to that.
I didn't like the idea of a prequel..
But they have a couple of good actors... >_<

I personally think its a good decision. Think about it, With todays Star Trek fan base, do you think it would do that great during Christmas? That would be some hard competition to go up against. By moving it to May, it should get a better turn out, which will be better to help Star Trek survive longer.

I would have prefered to have it come out around x-mas 08. Still, gives me something to look forward to next year. May 8 2009 - a week after my birthday! mrgreen
