Across the land there are a wide variety of organizations that offer workshops and classes with metaphysical themes. I was curious how many of you have attended any workshops and classes you feel have related to your spiritual practice. These classes might have been hosted by fellow Neopagans or by associated communities that share common ground with us.

If you have attended classes and workshops, could you tell us a little bit about what you've taken and what you've learned from them? What was good about them and what was bad about them?

Do you have any advice for someone looking to take classes and workshops in terms of where to look for them or how to judge their worth?

If you've taught something in your local area, what was it? Tell us about it!

I got to go to "psychic camp" when I was a kid.

It was hosted by The A. R. E.- and aside from being filled with stuck up kids who were jealous of my m@d Bio-Feedback monitor sk!llz, it wasn't too memorable.

The former leader of the Vortex Camp put on a generic neopagan 101 class. That was pretty interesting- in so much that it walked through the practical applications of what a lot of the popular 101 Books cover, and it allowed for a certain amount of validation through the observations of others.

There really isn't anything around here, exept a Reiki circle, but honestly, I'm not intrested in it.

Are they offering attunements?

My friend goes to Witchcamp every summer. She loves it.

I don't consider myself a "witch" but I want to go, it sounds awesome!

Is that hosted by the Spiral Scouts?

I wonder how close it is to what the A.R.E. offered.

I'm not familiar with A. R. E., Tea... what does it stand for?

The Association for Research and Enlightenment.

They did things like test us to see if we could sense colors with our hands, they worked with biofeedback monitors, they tested us to see if we could see auras and the like.

I was a bit of a teacher's pet I guess. sweatdrop

Witchcamp is not a children's camp. Although, children are allowed to come.

I think many states in the US also have Witchcamps.
I know California and Washington State both do.

I get the feeling I would be just as out of place at Witch Camp as I am at most festivals.

My friend was afraid of that at first. She's definately no hippy...
But, she always has a good time.

I think I would look out of place as well.

I'm not entirely sure how to do that. xd Ask them. Unlike Wicca- it isn't oathbound.

Pagans are 70% Bananas! 4laugh

Naw- but really, I go to one "pagan" festival a year, and it's because I'm friends with the people who run it so I feel safe.

lol Indeed Bananas!

I think it's good to make an effort to get out and meet other Pagans, seeing how we're a minority. If I have to meet hippies in the process, awesome. biggrin
