No one might have guessed that Keket was someone that liked shopping, much less a mall, given her lack of keeping up with most things modern, she seemed to be in a catching up mood given the last two hours she had spent in radio shack. She had manged to get a sales associate to help her, once they got past the fact she seemed technology illiterate they ended up being happy given she was building a list of things she was buying. She had even talked her way into having them ship the stuff to her, so after a flat screen tv, ps3, laptop, one of the little rover vacuum cleaners, (cause who really likes cleaning?) and dvd player/recorder, she was done. Well minus a nifty thing called a PDA that she was fiddling with as she exited the store, leaving behind very confused people, after all who hit up a mall store for all of that? Much have to be told what everything did?

She was not paying attention as she wandered the halls, barely weaving in and out of people, which on it's self was odd, she was over cautious normally, and yet now she seemed to just be content on well being simi normal? It was no surprise that on a Saturday afternoon the mall was packed, so it was common for her to have problems running into people and vis-versa, well she was short, most if not all of the teenagers were taller then her. Deciding it was safer to duck into a store for a moment Keket stared halfway angerly out, people were so rude now days, she didn't even take note of what store she was using as a refuge, not overly caring too much, too busy glaring. Okay so maybe shopping wasn't her thing, or maybe she shouldn't have the urge to shop on a weekend, it might be safer, she had to remember that for later.

[Yes it's a random open thread, simply because nothing has been going on for so long and I couldn't thing of anything exciting to do, so I tried to leave it as open as possible for someone, anyone, to answer. Oh, please excuse spelling problems, my word on this computer is dead, it freezes the computer.]

(Random thread startings are OK, especially if it gets people posting again. Real life can be a b***h.) smile

It had been far too long since Gaston had a vacation...even though the recent completion of his trip to Japan and spending a good week retraining with Mao wasn't really a vacation, but that's beside the point.

The Cajun immortal finishes stuffing the last bite of a cheesesteak sandwich from the Food Court into his mouth as he nimbly dodges the crowd in the mall. Marceau isn't entirely sure why he's here...the Balance Commissary has a shopping area that rivals the Pentagon...but some fresh air is always good now and again.

That and seeing other people, Gaston realizes as he nearly bumps into a particularly attractive young woman. He turns and gives a smile and a wink before moving on.

The buzz of another Immortal's presence quickly gets his attention as he approaches the entrance of another store. Gaston's not overly worried...not many Immortals would make trouble in the middle of a mall...but he steps in to see who's about. Maybe it's someone he knows.

After a few seconds of figuring life was against her she had turned to wander the store, some odd nature store that she thought was highly amusing, if someone wanted nature go outside, simple as that. The oh so lovely warning of another immortal got her to sigh as she was studying a bin of assorted rocks, deeming that safer then messing with anything more advanced. She had enough of odd technology to last her a few weeks, given since she had to later figure out how to hook up all her new gadgets. Moving around the bin to sort through a different area of rocks also put her so she could see the entrance of the store, a bonus for her.

Of all the places for another Immortal to duck out of the way in a mall, a nature store is one of the least foreboding, so Gaston remians quite at ease as he strides easily into the place...he's also been a bit of an overconfident so and so for the past few centuries, so that's part of it too.

All in all, he doesn't seem all that threatening at the moment. He's wearing jeans, a New Orleans football jersey, and his old flight jacket. More than likely doesn't have a sword on him, but anyone stupid enough to assume he's unarmed and harmless deserves what they get.

But it's a moot point since Gaston's not looking for trouble anyway. Instead, he moves over to rifle through the bin of rocks with mild interest. He soon comes up with a nice hematite or two, then faces Keket. "Heya."

She regarded him a moment, half considering not answering just to see what he'd do, though it was childish, not that it ever stopped her before, none the less she nodded. A simple nod from her was a graceful movement somehow, most of her movements help a calm grace to them, as if she thought out everything ahead of time and had all the time in the world. If he manged to look not threatening, she looked as harmless as a white fluffy bunny, she manged to pull off innocent to a high degree, with a hint of a professional twist thrown in. While she didn't look armed, and there wasn't a lot of places she could have hidden a weapon, she wasn't foolish enough to wander about without anything, even so she was careful, so very careful. Everything in her facade was perfect, to display only a young woman, maybe from a higher end of life then average, simply spending the day away. It was her eyes that didn't match, a bright peridot green for a color, but it wasn't the color, it was the age stored there, and underlaying coldness, she had given up on too much in her long life.

"Good day." There was the barest hint of an English accent, or at lest it showed more then the others, her delicate words held a good mix of accents from places around the world. She was at lest friendly, she didn't start things, rarely ever did, wasn't her style by a long shot.

Of course, anyone whose seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail knows exactly how dangerous a fluffy white bunny can be.

At any rate, Gaston continues filtering through the rock bin, adding an amethyst and a few interesting looking quartzes to his growing quarry. He's suddenly thinking putting together a small meditative rock garden could be a good idea.

He nods back to Keket and smiles. "Getting in a bit of shopping just before the Christmas rush begins, eh?"

"No, that would require having people to buy gifts for." Harsh but oh so true in her case, she mainly coldly kept her distance from all, a bad habit she was slowly workong on fixing. Keket as of far was on a hematite and tigers-eye benge, "I had forgotten of the up comming holidays." That would explain why it was so busy though, how foolish of her to not keep track of those things, she surppose if she had paid enough attention she might have noticed the decorations.

Keket's word aren't really all that harsh...honest, but not harsh.

To the rest, Gaston chuckles knowingly. "Yeah, the holidays can sneak up on you. Time really flies for us, doesn't it?" Immortality will do that.

Meanwhile, Gaston continues rifling through the rock bin. He adds two opals and a turquoise to his stash, weighing the bag in his hand and glancing at the contents. You don't want to spend too much on rocks, after all. "As for presents, I recommend finding a person or two to give to. Half the fun is surprising some pour soul with a present, then watching them scramble to return the gesture. Pretty entertaining."

The only others in town that she knew were two other immortals, one of which she knew well, the other not at all, which got her to blink at him, "It would be pointless though." No, the holiday's made little sense to her, it was a way for places to make money, that was how she looked at it. She was done with the rocks though as she flashed a half dead smile at that, that so didn't reach her eyes, empty eyes on that, but that was sadly normal with her. Most of her emotions had worn down over the years, "There does seem to be an oddly high number of us around this area though, a few I've had passing talks with, it could provid entertainment.

The standard roar of the mall crowd was pierced by a distant scream and the sound of commotion. For a brief moment there were a few shouts from what sounded like a young male. Yet, a few seconds later, a young male, presumably the same one yelling, was thrown clear across the hallway, reaching an altitude of approximately 8 feet. Crashing down, the young man certainly broke his left arm, as the elbow bent 180 degrees in the wrong direction. Slowly the crowd parted and the visage of a 6' young egyption wearing a black leather coat came into view. Of course, the immortal sense of all in that area of the mall began to ring loudly that yet another of their kin was in the vicinity.

"Yeah, we do seem to be popping up a lot around here." Gaston remarks. "I'm actually thinking about starting a convention." He ties the little drawstring around the edge of the rock bag closed, and considers browsing elsewhere.

"So do you have a name, or should I come up with an appropriately flirty one of my own?" Gaston asks. Keket's apparent lack of emotion doesn't seem to faze him much. He's known a few of the type before.

Then there's the scream. What, did someone get too fresh with Santa or something? Then the poor nameless dude flies by the entrance for his rather painful landing. THen another buzz.

Gaston turns around. "What in the name of..." He steps to the entrance of the store.

Oh, here we go...

As Ardeth pushed past his latest annoyance, his eyes fell directly into Gaston's and he smiled widely. Slowing his pace until he stood right outside the door, he raised his voice enough to be heard clearly.

"Ahhhh Gastooonnnnn! I see you still favor the unattractive and the assuredly.....borish." His eyes flashed over to Keket before falling back to Gaston.

Luckily for all involved, Gaston has recently returned from his Japanese 'vacation,' and now has his rage in check.

Kinda.

The slightly dangerous glint that lights up into Gaston's eyes belies the cocky grin. "Oh, very clever, Sahib...eat any good books lately?"

A gutteral laugh escaped, frightening a few of the nearby mall patrons enough to walk in the opposite direction.

"You always were good for laugh, especially when swinging that sword of yours around." Even louder laughter followed, this time sounding menacing enough to encourage everyone nearby to simply leave this section of the mall. In response to the departing patronage, the store owner of the establishment Gaston was in began making her way to where Gaston stood.

"Come now Gaston," Ardeth added, "growl for me, show me you still care."

"Growl for you? My God, Sahib, this is only our third date, and you want to start the mating ritual already? Slow down. Breathe."

Gaston's min-diatribe is cut short by the approaching manager. He sighs, holds up the rocks, tosses the lady 1 20...enough to cover the rocks and still have some left over...then waves a hand and buzzes her away. Keep the change.

He doesn't seem afraid of Ardeth, stepping out of the store proper to face him a little more closely. "As for my sword, I swing it better than the last person to carry it. What was that pathetic little man's name again?"
