Ugh. Ok. This is about my dad and my little brother. My mom and my youngest brother are both pretty open-minded, but... yeah. The other two are kind of bitchy. The other day I showed them a project for Japanese class, where we were to make a poster with a profile of a Japanese celebrity. I chose Kyo from Dir en Grey and chose a really cute picture, one of the earlier ones where he has cool make-up and black lipstick on his pretty lips *fangirl moment* Moving on.

Me: Look, innit cute!
Dad: She looks like a freak
Me: HE, dad, it's a HE! D; it's Kyo-sama!
Dad: that's not a man.
Me: Yes it is! He's a GUY!
Gustav (Little brother, age 13) : One of those guys who likes other guys.
Me: scream WOULD THAT MAKE HIM LESS OF A MAN!?
Dad: Yes, it would.

As you see, there is an obvious problem here. My little brother constantly uses the word "gay" as something negative as well as calling other boys "fags" And it REALLY pisses me off. I need to make them understand that homosexuality isn't something negative! And it's not femmy! I personally think it's the opposite, I find it masculine because it's a love without feminine elements... usually ^^;; HALP!

In all seriousness, its common for youngins to be little rude individuals bout our kind. Try and force the idea into his head that its alright. Tell him "Hell, you might even be gay. You may be too young to find out though". Dunno if that'll do anything but if he goes o_o then it may be worth the laugh

As for your pa. Can't help you there. He sounds like one of them square jawed shunners of differentness. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know how you could fix that but some (alot) of people are just jerks about it, its how it is

xD actually, my brother DID THAT when he was a kid... put his hand on a stove.. HEH. But yeah, I'm trying to bash some sense into the b***h. On top of it all, he keeps making fun of this guy in my class who's kinda femmy... which annoys me even further. We have discussions about homosexuality quite frequently, me trying to find the on-swtich of their brains... xD My youngest brother said "I wish I were gay, 'cause gay men have such nice hair" (he's not very smart...)

Maybe I should strap my brother to a chair, tape his mouth over and have little eye-opening device-thingies and make him watch Sensitive Pornograph? xD That'd be fun. Thirteen. He's one of the... popular kids... the type that annoys the hell out of everyone and beats up people who oppose him.

Unfortunately, you can't force them to understand. It really will make things worse. The best thing to do in that kind of situation is set an example, and if the oppurtunity arisses, express your opinion calmly. Trying to force others to change is one major way to make them not want to change a lot more.

Your dad's pretty set in his ways but you're brother's only 13. He's got years before him. He might change his mind. And he is 13 and 13 year old boys do a lot of stuff for reaction just just cause 'cool' people do it. Try not hate him too much for acting his age. =/ Like someone else said, set an example. Pitching a fit will not change their mind. You have to change their mind in a mature sort of way.

Also, you could just not bring up homosexuality around them. If you know they closed minded, then don't show them any more visual kei posters. =/
