protecterofelements Fluff - really mushy stuff to continue with that -- Angst: Genre that is opposite of Fluff, in which you might find terrible happenings like character death, rape, etc. PWP: Porn without plot, which speaks for itself. One-shot: Fanfiction that is meant to be only one chapter long. AU: Alternate-Universe. Stories like this take place in a setting that's different from canon, like, for example, taking the characters of Naruto and putting them in high school. WIP: Work-in-Progress. The fanfic isn't completed yet. On Hiatus: Author is taking a break from the story for an indefinite amount of time. Discontinued: The story will no longer be updated. OOC: Out-of-character. You might find this used mostly in constructive criticism. OC: Original-Character. (this is interchangable with OFC and OMC, which stands for original female and original male) Flame: A very harsh review. Smut: Sex. Beta: Someone who reads your story for you and corrects your grammar before you post it. Het: Story has a heterosexual relationship in it. Mary-Sue: A perfect female original character. Gary-Stu: A perfect male original character. Self-Insert: When the author puts themself in a fanfic. Fourth Wall: Term used to define the imaginary wall between our reality and the fictional one we're writing about. For example, if you were to suddenly make your characters aware that they are in a story and are being wrote about by you in another dimension, that is called "breaking the fourth wall" RP: Role-Play. This is where you act out the role of one particular character and somebody else acts out the role of another. IRL: In-Real-Life.

Ah, also -- how to understand pairing nicknames: Ever notice how when celebrities start dating, the media creates cute little names to refer to the pair? Zanessa, Brangelina, TomKat, etc? Well, fandom does the same thing to their ships, and more often than not, you'll find that instead of just typing out the full names of both characters with the slash, you'll get something like SasuNaru or AkuRoku. There may even be titles in some cases, like the pairings of Harry Potter had. (Pumpkin Pie ship, The Good Ship, Puppy Shipping, etc.)
If you're looking for an incestual pairing, your best bet is to add the -cest suffix into the character's last names. For example: Edward and Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist becomes Elricest. Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin from Host Club becomes Hitachiincest. Dean and Sam Winchester from Supernatural becomes Wincest. However, sometimes there are exceptions to the rule. Louis and Wilbur Robinson should become Robincest when combined, but are actually most often referred to as 'Timecest'. Despite this, the -cest will always be constant.
Twincest refers to twin incest.

It can stand for both. It can be used as both most of the time.
In my head though, I always thought of it as ,"Porn without plot."
