Ok I've been dieting forever and my scale has me stuck at 169, then this week I gradually lost about a pound a day for some reason. Then I lost 2 more the next couple days bringing me to 160! Yay party!! (or so I thought) Today I weighed myself and it said 162 which didn't bother me, I just thought it was no big deal. I weighed myself again to be sure and it was 162. Like 10 maybe 15 minutes later I compulsively weighed myself again and now it keeps saying 169 no matter how many times I try! It's a nightmare and I just don't get why it said I was less for a whole week and changed in a matter of minutes!? Help me!! gonk I was feeling so good and now I just wanna cry. I've been trying for eight months. neutral How can a scale change by 7 pounds that fast?

Well, you could've had some water... water always adds a few pounds. And some other things you eat might affect how much you weigh, but not for long, only until it's burned. Also, after drinking some water, look at how much you just drank. wink It's a lot, huh?
I suggest not weighing yourself that often, many things can add a slight delay in your weight. o:
Try having veggies. ;D Veggies are awesome.
Hope that helped...at all. xD

maggitty88 If you have a friend with a scale try seeing what their's say about your weight. I don't actually have any girlfriends... redface I think I'll just go to Wal-Mart and try another one, and then take the one I have back if it's screwed up.

Clearly, you gained 7 lbs of fat in 15 minutes. That's the only explanation. You should probably stop eating tubs of lard.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Were you weighing yourself on a different type of surface, such as carpet vs. tile? That'll make a difference. My guess is that the scale's broken. I've found digital scales to be very fussy-try weighing yourself on one of the old-fashioned balance types. They seem to be a bit more reliable in the long run.

I try to stay away from the lard but it ish just sooo good!!!! crying blaugh Anyhow, I was weighing myself on my linoleum kitchen floor like always. I had originally wanted just a cheap regular scale anyway but my husband, ever the tech geek, thought this one was sooo awesome and convinced me to buy it even though it was like 35 dollars. But yeah I'll have to go get a regular balance scale. I was just weighing myself every day or every few days but now I've noticed that if I weigh every few minutes it constantly changes so it has to be messed up. Thanks guys!

I have a similar problem. At home I weigh myself and it reads anywhere from 215-217.5, at my grandma's house it reads that I weight 223, and at Sharper Image (I like playing around with everything at that store...) it says I'm 210 (I like that scale; it gives me more hope. Heh. ) so I'm not sure which to believe!

me i'd go with the one that says i weigh less..... but that's just me
um i hate digital scales just throwing that out there. Scales get thrown off all the time, especially if you're constantly moving them around.
point in case = I have mine on a shelf (live in a dorm) and i take it out and put it on the floor every day (i'm neurotic like that). Well one day i stood on there and it said i'd gained 5 lbs. Of course i started freaking out, some cursing was said. And then I stepped off the scale only to notice that it was off. I.e. with nothing on it it didn't point to zero. So i fixed it, got on again and found that i'd actually lost 2 lbs.
but you can't really check that with digital, hence why i prefer my old fashioned scales.
