As she gradually withdrew further into the safety of the sheets, finally Antha reached the end of the bed and slid right off to land dazedly on the floor, swiping lethargically at the sheet pulled over the upper half of her form. "Frogs...ambushed..." This seemed to be the only thing she could think of saying, being still quite convinced she was locked in her dream world. "Malakai, warn the damn tadpoles..."

Momentarily, Volusia could only blink. Then she promtly fell to her knees and doubled over. Little snorts and gasps escaped through her fingers, no matter how she tried to supress them. Silently rolling over on her her side, Volusia giggled even more, despite her effort to stop. She finally managed to calm herself, lying flat on her back and arms pinned to her sides, but even then her breath was irregular and a huge smile was painted on her face. A small, contented sigh escaped her lips as she drifted off to a calmer place. His image was, for the moment, erased from her memory.

Finally dragging the sheet down from over her head, Antha's eyes swept over the room looking for the source of the peculiar noises. "Froggy?" She was beginning to truly wake from her dream, but still she was mostly drowned in it. "Malakai!" she cried out in a most childish and uncharacteristic voice, "Malakai, make the froggies go away!"

Volusia snorted one more time before her eyelids fluttered close. Her lips were slightly parted and her shallow breath came and went with ease. In her sleep she suddenly giggled loudly. Her eyes opened and she clapped a hand to her mouth. Volusia blushed, hoping she hadn't woken them up. She sat up again and peered up at Antha, a queer mixture of amusement and pity settling on her wrinkeld brow.

Her attention was momentarily diverted as she heard the loud sounds coming from Volusia, but was just as quickly drained away as her mind wandered back to the dream. "Stupid brother!" she complained as she started towards him, stopping as she came up to him to make sure it was indeed him she was seeing. "Malakai, wake up!" She took to shaking his arm at this, causing his entire body to shift back and forth as she did so. Yet still he did nothing but sleep. "Malakai!" She was getting evermore tired with every passing moment until finally she slumped down with her head resting on her brother's forearm and fell back to sleep.

Watching this happen, Volusia's eyebrows knit together and a little smile crawled onto her lips. "Aw." she half moaned-half crooned. She pulled a blanket over Antha and leaned against her bed. The sheets in a mound at the end of the bed looked inviting. She pulled one away from the pile and drew it over herself. Mmm. she thought. Warm. She got another to pull over Antha and Malakai and she crawled over. Almost two feet away, she slid down into a tight ball and clung to the sheet, fast asleep.

Antha sat quietly in an old white wicker chair on the back porch, watching the steam rise from the heated pool situated farther back in the yard. An hour earlier when she had first stepped out of the door Julien had called her inane, the only clothing on her slight form being a white button up shirt she had swiped from Malakai's closet. She had always found his shirts best to sleep in, being only slightly loose on her and yet reaching almost halfway down her thighs. Never mind that the sleeves, even with the cuffs turned back, reached her fingertips. But now, as she felt the midwinter air encasing her, she really wished she had listened to his suggestion of putting on warmer clothes. Of course she never would have even if it was someone she would ever listen to, being the stubborn person she was. Besides, she had the spirits that surrounded her to keep her warm as they emitted their steady energy.

Volusia munched happily on her garnola. It was warm and mushy. With lots of sugar. "Mmm." she said, a big, childish smile crawling across her face, scrunching her face up.. Licking her lips, she picked up her bowl and walked across the huge kitchen. Her little boots clicked on the tile and echoed off the walls. The sound of the bowl being dropped into the white porcelian sink seemed almost thunderous.
She took a brief moment to wish she were a little girl in the Victorian era, and thank the gods she was born into such a grand life. It was as close as she could ever get, and she decided, for the thousandth time, that now was better than then anyway. She loved the big sun-flower shower-head in the bathroom; it was why she got up in the morning.

Giving a little sigh, Antha let her head fall back and her eyes slide closed. She could feel the tendrils of her hair sway and brush the back of the chair as the breeze tousled it. "It's too cold," she said finally, her voice a bare whisper, as her eyes again snapped open. Her arms were wound around herself and the blood was rushing uncomfortably to her head but she paid it no mind; she was used to dealing with discomfort.

Volusia stomped back up to her room to put more clothes on. She pulled a black sweater on over her head, and drew on a pair of fingerless gloves. Clomping back down the sairs and into the kitchen. She grabbed her thick, grey wool coat and stepped out the door, and onto the back porch, checking her reflection in the glass on the way out. She decided she'd have curly black hair today.

"Good morning." In a second Antha had straightened herself, her head upright so that the blood began working it's way back down in a sudden dizzying rush. Her half frozen hair was rather messy considering the girl it was on, the curls she had fashioned the thick locks into the day before all tousled and crumpled. "Did you sleep well?"

 

[Average Doe]

"Heh, you could say that." Volusia said, a crooked grin on her lips. She tied her thick black curls back with a slate grey ribbon. "And how are you, my little ice queen?" she returned. Just looking at Antha made her blood freeze in her veins. Looking up at the sky she added, "Do you think we'll get snow today?"

The slightest smirk came to her pale lips, her eyes gleaming with the insanity of possibility. "Why? Do you want snow?" Her fingers laced together beneath her chin and her eyes closed almost trancedly as she envisioned the clouds and water vapor hanging in the steel gray sky above her, pulling it together with all the force of her will until after a moment she felt a cold flake of the frozen matter land on her shoulder, followed by an entire flurry that poured over the sleeping Garden District, Mayfair Manor being in the very middle of it. It always shocked Antha slightly to see just how far she'd go to demonstrate her power, letting herself waste away almost half of the energy stored away in her freezing body just to do so.
