Round of applause for everyone!! We saw amazing work from people this year and it is great to see how everyone has improved! As always there is a after event thread for discussion open in the guild. Please also add the 100 Days of Art Website to your favorites if you haven't already! Find updates for next year's event and for smaller yearly events we look forward to hosting. As a reminder these titles are arbitrary and were just goals and timelines set to motivate each one of you. Whether you completed 1 piece, 50 pieces, or all 100, the entirety of the events purpose is to put some kind of time and effort in your art skill! For some this was a huge feat to juggle into busy lives, children, spouses, work, school, health, etc!

If wanting to share below some of your thoughts as well with others (or for your own accountability I unno) feel free! If you participated last year, how do you think you did in comparison? Did you feel successful by the end? Do you see your own improvement from any work you did last year? What hurdles did you face? What piece are you most proud of?

All right, I'm less busy now so here I go:
If you participated last year, how do you think you did in comparison? I think I did tons better than last year. Last year it looked like I played it pretty safe but this year, I went out of my comfort zone time and time again, doing things that I didn't necessarily want to and ending up liking the result. I also didn't let my de-motivation get to me and I'm very happy with that.
Did you feel successful by the end? Absolutely! Having only missed 3 days this year is huge on its own and I feel super accomplished and proud of myself.
Do you see your own improvement from any work you did last year? Yes, my proportions, my coloring, my abilities, and all that have improved a ton. And of course my own mindset about my work has changed too.
What hurdles did you face? Mostly tiredness or de-motivation after a long day at work. That was really hard on me, and many times I asked myself, "man should I use a pass today?" but persevered and ended up making nice art despite initially reluctant to draw.
What piece are you most proud of? I have two for this one. Day 80 (the improvement watercolor) and Day 87 (the whale piece). I wasn't sure how much I had improved since 5 years ago, but it's night and day. It made me feel a lot better about my journey and how far I've come. And day 87 was basically a testament to that, showing me that I really have improved with my anatomy, coloring, sense of composition, etc.

★ If you participated last year, how do you think you did in comparison? tab Uhh about the same? I still drew each day... I just didn't post each day.
★ Did you feel successful by the end? tab Hmmm nah. I had some personal art goals I didn't meet. One reason I went ghost this year was to go “off theme” for once. I ended up playing it safe, lazy, and braindead and stuck to themes 99/100 days. XD (... But I like seeing everyone's takes on the same themes so I felt more connected to the event that way.) I also drew a lot of simple s**t (which... was one of the goals, but I didn't meet other goals).
★ Do you see your own improvement from any work you did last year? tab I can't compare this year's art to any prior years. I usually put 30+ mins into each day's submission(s). (I bet I spent less time on some of the ghost pieces here and there.) This was the first year I allowed myself to draw what I wanted and not worry about whether it'd fill time. It was freeing My art varies too greatly depending on time I put into it. Esp this event art. (I get that's true for the majority of people.) I try to set up more complicated drawings to make sure to fill 30 mins. And if/when that fails, I end up adding more flair (extra sparkles, shading, rim lighting, etc) to just fill the time. XD So a lot of my older art is full of sparkles and glow and extra markings XD ...and not because I wanted that from the start. I just don’t feel like I can compare this year’s simplistic art to the more complicated and/or sparkly art. I did Hard Mode last year and Ghost Mode this year. That said, some of my 2023 art surprised me that they filled 30 mins... Those same pieces wouldn't take me 30 mins now.
★ What hurdles did you face? tab The usual time management and fatigue at the end of the day. Alsooooo coming up with new ideas when too exhausted to think. All I think of are the same ideas that I already drew other years. And I don't want to redraw them. I need to prep some inspiration to turn to for next year.
★ What piece are you most proud of? tab Hmmm I can't say I'm proud of any of the art I did this year. XD I'd only be proud if I drew something I didn't think I could pull off. But I knew I'd be able to draw everything I drew this year, even my experimental stuff. *shrug* That said, I guess my fav is the stack of peanut butter cups I replicated. I loved how the shine on the chocolate syrup drizzle worked out.
