I've had the idea for a while and have gotten some ideas down, but don't like much of what I've thought of. If there's anyone not cis-male or cis-female, I'm trying to put down on paper what it's like to be not of the binary-norm.

The poem is meant to be humourous comparing gender to animals. Male = duck, female = beaver (or the other way around) and the genderqueer 'character' is a platypus. Seemingly a mix of male and female, but in actuality entirely different.

"This Platypus doesn't give a ******** you're a beaver or a duck"
is the line that popped in my head and got me wanting to write it as well as hearing a couple of genderqueer lecturers explaining how some people can't imagine any other genders.
