Oh for ******** sake. Is this really what this discussion has come to? I mean when an entire thoughtful post is dismissed with a complaint that people who stand for social justice are overbearing? WTF?

Or when the threads themselves have only been addressed by one admin who refuses to accept that people can be offended because "they weren't referring to Roma".

I find it hard to accept that last given the uses of the word and the direct correlation with the stereotypes. And that people still can't comprehend that "positive" stereotypes still lead to discrimination; "all asians are smart" etc.

Closed. She put the lid back on.

Is that a bad thing/only logical?

All I know is that she's been doing that for years now without any seemingly ill effects to her own health. She does use open containers as well back home, though.

If chlorinated water is left in an open container overnight, the chlorine will evaporate on its own. That's why I wondered.

Should've left it in the hall, then. Evaporated chlorine is the reason I stopped swimming in public pools. Still, that's good to know and gives me something to test. o:

Well, if I remember my chemistry right - and there's a good chance I don't - then it's the evaporated chlorine that's my problem.

Either way, back when I went to highschool, swimming pools used a lot of chlorine in their water. The heat causes the chlorine to evaporate and go up into the air, but because it was in a closed room, the chlorine just hung around and gave me headaches.

It got even better when they told me I didn't have to swim anymore and could hang out on the balcony - just below roof-level - where the hot air congregated and gave me major headaches instead.

The amount of chlorine used in swimming pools today in the Netherlands is significantly lower, but I've never quite been fond of public swimming pools afterwards.

Personal lack of preference, if you will.

Oh, and if I mess up the phrases, feel free to correct me, by the way. I've noticed - recently as well - that my English isn't the best out there when it comes to technical terms and what not.

Perfectly understandable and thank you for the explanation.

Makes a lot of sense actually. Depending on the degree of experience, there are a number of people who simply don't engage in certain activities.

Oh, hey, Guild-quotes show up under notices now. o: That's new, is it?

But yeah, I've been revisiting my childhood memories with the chlorine. But I'm back in the Netherlands now, and the water here is a lot better. smile Only have to deal with bleached towels in the hotel.

I appreciate the idea that bleach cleans very well, and one would want that in a towel, but the smell...maybe I'm just weird with towels and like to press my face into it when I get out of the shower, or take it out of the dryer.

In some circles, etiquette is a functional synonym for repression.
The problem is aggravated over the internet, largely consequence free environ and all. I'm happy if I can make it through a week of posting on any of the forums I have been drafted to of late without suffering a disparagement at my sexuality or nationality from at least 5 unrelated sources, often used out of hand, dismissively, or thoughtlessly. I have learned not to expect much out of people anymore... at least until reason otherwise is given.

Not something I recommend with bleached towels, no. But freshly washed ones are warm and smell divine.

And there is something uniquely unpleasant about towels which have not been propperly cleaned. It almost invalidates the bathing process. confused

By the gods, why am I the only exec (either director or coordinator) in all of the eight student services that has a good, positive working relationship with our student union vice-president (AKA our boss)? gonk

Are the other execs so negative? Or is the vice-president?

Interesting thing I have learned today: the word/name nuri according to the Dom Research Center, is very related to a 10th century group of Dom named Nawar (with no relation to the group that bears than name now).

It's not the same area as where my persona comes from, but it's nice to know that a name I got off of a "pagan magical name" list is like the gift that keeps on giving.

As for the name Nuri, I've heard so many meanings for it dealing with fire and divinity, it's just awesome.
