Yesterday we got the delivery of books and stuff that are on hold for our patrons...one person ordered a copy of Teen Witch. this patron is a grown man who I assumed, from our previous library interactions, was a fairly rational person...I really hope he's doing some sort of...journal article on fluffy consumerism or something. I really hope that's it.

I can't stand passing by that book on the shelf every day. blech.

When he picks it up you could always get some small talk while you ring it up: "Hey, if you're interested in the subject I have a few authors I can suggest for you that are higher quality."

Edit: HA. I just sent her a message. Apparently those still work. I was nice. Let's see what she says.

From what it looks like, anything she says is going to be hidden in a mess of capitalized words, heart icons, and word salad.

I think that she is either going to ignore me entirely or say that I vibrate at a low level or something along those lines.

OK, what is this whole thing about "vibrations"? Is this a neo pagan thing or is this based in some specific religion that has been appropriated up the wazoo?

I believe that is neo-paganism based on poorly understood science.

My favorite remains the group who wanted to charge people for cleansing their DNA of junk DNA. rofl

That sounds like Scientology. Which I used to call Cylontology, except than I realized that even the fictional Cylons re better.

Which I would not dare lump into neo-paganism; it's in its own little category.

OK, I thought it might be something like the "chakras" appropriated from the Hindu religion.

Quote:
This living MIND performs gastrulation, which is a turning of itself inside out, manifesting its esoteric NATURE outwardly. Therefore, all the phenomenal worlds and universes are simply a mental creation of (MIND), subject to the laws of created things, and the universes, as a whole and in their parts or units, have their existence in the Mind. It is in this Mind that we "live and move and have our being." This SUBJECTIVE OBSERVATION of CREATION is the Principle which establishes the mental nature of the universes and easily explains all of the varied mental and psychic phenomena. Without such explanation these phenomena are not understandable and defy scientific inspection.

This seems to be supporting the idea of either solipsism, or that you can change physical matter simply with the power of your MIND. Is it possible to have subjective reality if you believe in eternal truths?

Similar, thought o be honest I've felt movement in specific spots in my body, as well as the palms of my hands and the bottoms of my feet, so.. I can't whine too much about the Chackra people. (When I meditate, they all show up like pretty flowers. ~<3)

I wish that more information on Doshas, Prana and Nadi were provided when people look into Chakras. At best most of them seem to recommend Kundalini work which seems irresponsible to me since most of the works seem to neglect the other important support concepts needed to work with Kundalini in a safe way.

Feel free to call me Brass.
Does it look anything like the Dapper Brown Captain's Hat?
Was there something specific you wanted to know more about?

In an unrelated amusement: Did anyone else see the "Wiccan" episode of Bones?

Today's agenda: nude gardening, sun, more sun, fresh farmer's market food, a bath, more sun, spiritual things, and generally being awesome everywhere all day.

Edit: +10 bonus points for gossiping neighbors. SUCCESS.
