Anyone else keeping an eye on the case regarding pagan chaplains currently before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals?

Link?

Wow. Well, since I'm a resident of CA this hits closer to home. I'm just not sure what to say.

It does raise a question that I hadn't even considered before, which is the validity of my faith. I already assumed that if I were to tell people about my religion they'd think I'm just playing a game or something...and sometimes it feels like that because I'm building a lot of it from scratch, and have a very tiny, almost nonexistent group of similar people. I won't even use the word community, since I don't feel like there is one.

You're in a position to take action that will have more weight than those outside of your state.

You're also in a better position than most- because you have the rights of a Free Citizen, something which isn't fully extended to people in the prison system because of the need for safety.

Scene is the word I use. I blame an article Nuri linked to ages ago.
I can pull it up if you'd like.

True, I've just never written a letter to anyone in my state's government before, so I'm not sure how to start. I do intend to write something at least.

I think I'll explore this in the letter.

Usually an honorific to address the person in question, followed by a statement about who you are. Helps to include that you are a taxpaying, voting citizen.
Address your concerns, your reason for the concerns and why you think they should agree with you. Simple citations might be helpful.

Close with a sign of appreciation for their time.

I wanted to say something about how this is not just about being a taxpayer, or just about who gets to be chaplain, but a larger issue of who deserves rights in this country, and that this is an important case since it will set a precedent for people of all religions to be treated with equal autonomy, which is the foundation of our Liberty.

Um...I think. I'm probably going to have to draft it so it flows better, or something.

It seems like the best thing to do would be to get a petition going, and letters to the State.
Getting a prisoner to sue would help also.

There's already a lawsuit going on.

Also- in case people are interested, falling asleep listening to poor quality documentaries on different religious subjects is a bad idea for me.

As noted in The Wild Hunt, the case is a class action, there 5 prisoners involved as well.

looking at the freckle on my lunar mount again... i have no idea what the proper name for that part of the hand is, but oh well... it just strikes me as a very odd place for a freckle. it wasn't there 6 years ago, it just sort of appeared there about 3 or 4 years ago, hmm.

i've also found one on the bottom of my foot, in the arch... this is strange indeed. neither is raised, they look like small dots of brown ink or henna...
