I didn't like the The Last Name, but I did like Change the World. It explains how L found Near.

i didn't care for it as much either.i did like the first one (hence my watching the second one), but i haven't made it to the third one yet. my biggest issue with it is that it's so different from the anime. i haven't even watched the anime, but i know enough about it that it didn't end that way.
trying not to release any spoilers... just in case
but i do like how after everything happens they go back and explain it from Light's POV-ish

but Near wasn't in the other 2 movies confused or did i miss that?... oh well, guess i just hafta watch the 3rd movie. ninja

A lot of people in Japan asked for a Live Action version of Death Note, considering the Manga and the Anime series is over and done with over there for at least a few years now.

The US recently got rights to do a Live Action version as well, Zac Efron is the rumored actor to play Light.

I agree that they do do a good job going back to explain things from Light's POV, but I wish they had gone into more detail over the Death Note itself and other people with Death Notes, like it was hinted at in the Manga series.

why on this green, wet and sandy earth would they want zach efron to play light?! WHHHYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! (um, yeah, i'm not really what you'd call a fan of his, but one of my pet peeves is: once i have seen one version of something [ie - the right/original version] then i'm not big on remakes. like the parent trap. the first on was better. and i have trouble adjusting to their voices being different too. i can't even watch Gravitation in english... wow that was a long rant, lol sweatdrop ) maybe he has the face for it, but i can't help but get a mental image of him breaking out it horribly choreographed song and dance numbers while killing people. gonk

but knowing me, i'll watch it anyway sweatdrop

If you compare Zac Efron to Light in the Manga/Anime he looks 'almost' like him.

But then again, it's just a rumor so until it's proven correct, no one will know who is going to be in the English adaption of Death Note.

I don't like most remakes anyway, which is the trend Hollywood is following. I'm waiting for a butchered remake of Who Framed Roger Rabbit or how this new Nightmare on Elm Street is going to be, considering Wes Craven isn't directing it and Robert Eugland isn't going to be in it, the guy that played Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) is going to be Freddy instead. Micheal Bay is suppose to be the director for the remake.

Don't worry, whiporwill-o, IMDB doesn't have any information on it at all, never mind actors.

I mean, there's still plans for an Evangelion and Monster movie, but there hasn't been any information about them, either.

i just can't see a high school musical basketball dance team drama whatever the hell he was in that movie be a slightly demented serial killer in the name of justice. i just don't see it.

ps - i miss being a 23 year old adult... i've been reduced to a 23 year old child since having to move in with my parents... news flash: i made it through 5 years of my life without you giving me a bedtime!!

Try being a 24 year old adult with a almost 3 year old son stuck living with his parents due to horrid experiences.

The DBZ movie sucked
