Why couldn't you bring your sword?

The U.K. hates the idea of armed peasants.
"Good reason" as determined by the law-enforcement, must be had for carrying any blade that is longer than 3" or not a folder.
As a weapons owner and a staunch proponent of self-defense, I find Britain's general laws regarding it unlivable. Other people may enjoy them, but I'll always trust my own ability to defend myself, rather than running to the police.
The fact that most counters I have heard to this are that while there are no statutes to protect self-defense, the courts usually support it.
Too dicey for me.
In many ways, I am the stereotypical arsenal living American who has more faith in armed etiquette than the rule of law.

I wouldn't be able to do that. I collect weapons.

The flip side of this is that in situations such as domestic violence, women in the US are twice as likely to be murdered than women in the UK last I checked.

But then, the challenge is ensuring the right people are in a position to be armed.

As for Self Defense in England and Wales, you'd have to check with The Criminal Law Act 1967 and The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, which assures Self Defense as a legal protected action, with much the same limitations as we have here in the US.

Cleansed the new house. Brought over dear friend who practices Santaria and we did Tarot stuff late into the night, as well as gossiping.

Oh and by new house I mean my new apartment, which I started calling my new house.

All I have moved overe there so far is a sofa and my bureau.

Both very useful things to have in your gaff. You can put things in the bureau, put shiny things on the bureau, and then admire your bureau and shiny things from your sofa.

Thank the gods I kept reading before I followed the link--I can't stand lady Gaga, and may have had to poke my brain with a q-tip until it ceased.

I admire her individuality, the fact she writes her own songs and the fact those songs are amazingly catchy.
But she isn't for me. xD

I actually really didn't like Bad Romance until I saw the video. Afterwhich I had to see all her other videos.

I think her art is best exemplified in her videos. From where I sit, she's an audio&visual artist.

Can anyone suggest some stuff for my grandmother to do to entertain herself or stuff we can do together? She lost her reading glasses so she can't read or play cards, she doesn't want to watch t.v., and she has a hard time hearing. sweatdrop

Thanks! I'll have to ask if she would like to do that.
