After a discussion that ended up telling my mother that she had no idea what Wicca was and that she should not say ignorant things about it to me, she spent some time at work doing a research spree.
My mother is now asking me questions about scourging, cords, working skyclad, the Great Rite--yeah. She even knew what Gardnerianism was in relation to other traditions.
While I'm happy that my mother has vanquished her ignorance, I am freaked out about how much she knows. Thankfully she is not going apeshit and is very calm about it, though she said that she thought it was "perverse" and "primitive."
I am also proud that when researching Wicca, she got down to some good info and not the fluffy stuff. Maybe this is good researching on her part or luck. Not sure yet.

TeaDidikai I hate diamonds. Why do all the jewelry stores tell my husband otherwise? I heart my wedding band This, but with a blue inlay.Of course, my husband already lost his. GRR.

Calixti I hate diamonds too. Besides the expense and difficulty involved in finding ethical diamonds (which, really, do they even exist? In terms of labour AND environmental impact, I mean) These seem nice, and were what I was planning on using. Though now that I'm seeing these beautiful wooden rings, I might be changing my mind.

While I can understand why she may think it perverse, why primitive? Skyclad worship and dance. Apparently we have "evolved" beyond such "uncivilized" behavior. TeaDidikai Illiezeulette is [...]made of win and candy. ...candy?

Bastemhet lol I've seen this before! They're adorable. xd Have you seen these shirts? I'm trying to get away from the jeans and t-shirt uniform I had throughout much of my life, otherwise I would totally get one. Maybe to sleep in or laundry day? Ooooo. Do want.

I need halp.
I'm trying to think of a meaningful Christmas gift for my mom. She avoids living her life, just wasting away in front of the television. She knows what she's doing and refuses to go out and live her life. I want to help motivate her to take control and be an active participant in her own life. She has issues with self-esteem and essentially hates the world, so she stays cooped up all day watching TV, playing computer card games, etc. Anything to mindlessly waste time. It's come to the point where her actions are exaggerated and fake, like she's an actress on TV. They weren't like that before.
The best I am doing right now is setting an example with myself and I know that I cannot fix her. I am slowly but surely losing patience and respect for her.
I was thinking a journal with uplifting quotes, or a book on meditation or how to enrich her life or how to "let go" (of stress and anger, not reality), something without going overboard fluffy rainbow hearts and sunshine. I already bought her a Kindle for Christmas, maybe I can get her a book or two--any recommendations?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Illiezeulette Any ideas are greatly appreciated. A local college course. While you can offer her opportunities to change her life, only she can do so.

CuAnnan Illiezeulette Any ideas are greatly appreciated. A local college course. While you can offer her opportunities to change her life, only she can do so. This is a great idea that my mother and I have already discussed. She has shut it down on the grounds that she works late hours and is too tired to take a night class. While to a certain extent I think this is BS, I don't want to tire her out in case she has a valid point. I really want to help her but more and more I think that it is turning into a hopeless cause. Gah. Must not give up while there is still time. Thank you for the input (:
