Well, I'm holding two offers at the university, so I'll probably end up going there anyway. I like the university very much, and the city of Norwich is adorable. heart It's just a decision now between English Literature and American Literature with Creative writing. XD It's like deciding between my two greatest loves: it's definitely going to be tough.

No matter. I must keep on writing! I can't let a little (big?) rejection get me down! :3

~Monday 23rd February, 2009.

Now playing:
Mountain Goats - No Children

Our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises, we're pretty sure they're all wrong

Today hasn't been great on the writing front, but I'm certain making progress. Tonight witnessed me trying to grapple my story back on track, and instead I found myself writing a 1.5k scene which definitely wasn't in the original blueprints. It's not all bad news, though, since the scene puts a few things in context and attempts to work out the mess I've made in the last few thousand words (not a 'mess' exactly, more an unplanned subplot which has messed me around a bit).

So, now that scene is complete I can get on with the murder Medina and Ellette have to witness, and from then I think things will get a little clearer and things will be on the wind-down. I'm even beginning to think that the novel itself won't necessarily be as long as I've set up for, which could be a good thing since I think the third one will be huge. XD

Tomorrow should be good for writing that death. I'm hoping I can write it in one sitting, like I did in the first book (since it's one of those scenes which occurs in both the first and the second novels, just from different perspectives. >_>) otherwise I'll be stuck here for ages.

Words written today: 1,459

Word count: 88,167 / 160,000

Lines for today:

One leg dangling over the edge of the wall, one curled beneath her body, Ellette was humming to herself softly. Her song dripped onto the wind and was pulled from the aura of her body gently, like leaves drifting from a dying tree to meet the ground. Medina approached quietly, her bare feet making little sound on the cold gravel of the roof, and yet still Ellette heard her.

I hope it stays dark forever; I hope the worst isn't over

I always love your quotes! And good luck with the deaths wink

Thank you. It's funny how I find that by posting little bits online it makes me a little more confident about what I've written. It's almost as though by choosing something to put online I have to find something I 'like', and even if it's just one line it is something. An odd philosophy, but since I don't have (m?)any readers I think it's important to do something like that regularly. XP

And, I'm quite looking forward to the death scene actually, even though most of it happens through a locked door and is only heard. xd That's okay, the aftermath should be fun too. Full of paranoia. ninja

I only have my mate read mine then when it's finished, my other mate reads it. The others just don't have the time (or they just don't want to).
So that's lucky.
I just need a harsh critic...but not too harsh.

Death scenes are amazing. I just done one myself...though it was rather graphic and would probably be seen as not necessary.

I have one or two friends who will offer to read little bits, but only one friend will actually read something from cover to cover and offer up anything useful. I know what you mean about needing somebody harsh-but-not-too-harsh, haha. It's that balance, isn't it? It's so hard to find. :/

I think I write far too many death scenes. After this death (which is something like the third that the girls are involved in in some way >_>) there's still another one coming (a suicide). It's sad really. XD Firstly there's a poisoning whereby Medina was framed for murder (in an abstract sort of way), and this was followed by an attempted assassination which resulted in suicide. And then we have this murder, and then the final suicide. xd Dear me, I think my books need a health warning. >_o

Haha I know what you mean. But as I write a lot of fighting, wars etc. You can't expect everyone to live. Seriously. It's life xD

I think I'm just morbid. xd That would explain my high death counts, because otherwise I have no real explanation for it. I guess they just fit the stories. Natural progression of life and all that jazz. >_>;

I always see being morbid as a good thing. Me and my closest mate are extremely morbid. I'm going to see The Unborn tonight at the cinema. biggrin

Niice! Let me know if it's any good. I really want to go and see it. heart

I like being morbid. It's always good to get into conversations with people about weird topics. Although the last time I got into a discussion with somebody about ways to die, a good few of my friends thought that it was rather strange. And that's saying something since they're all rather strange themselves. XD

That is an interesting quote... I like it. It seems that you write a lot of details in your work, which is GREAT! I'd love to read the whole thing, when you get it published.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 27, 2009 3:32 pm
Really? Haha, more like "IF" if gets published. But I'm really glad you like the quote and stuff. I am a big fan of detail (sometimes too much) because I think it adds a certain edge to the story that you haven't got in more simplistic pieces. <3

I couldn't agree more! I try to put as much detail as I can into things... And I said "when" on purpose. ^_^

Haha. Thanks. <3 Not many people seem to have that same kind of faith in me!

But yes, definitely, description is like my one true love, or something. xd
