Only if you want it to? lol
Well, seeing as I'm not a pagan to begin with- it'd be hard to justify any claims to being a Kemetic Pagan.

Saw your post in the other thread, btw. I think part of being Kemetic would imply that you actually interact with the gods. rolleyes
It was just the audacity of it. "But the word G~ comes from Egyptian! And you read tea leaves and stuff... "

I rarely actually want to hit people. It just doesn't happen that much.

Usually when people say things that are so ridiculous, I either want to hit them or laugh. Maybe cry at the same time. A sense of humor is really hard to maintain, I find. confused

Actually, where did they hear that g~ comes from Egyptian? I've never heard of that before.

I would just like to wish everyone a happy Mabon. I celebrated last night and very much enjoyed myself. Hope all of you did as well.

1600, alteration of gypcian, a worn-down M.E. dial. form of egypcien "Egyptian," from the supposed origin of these people. Cognate with Sp. Gitano and close in sense to Turk. and Arabic Kipti "gypsy," lit. "Coptic;" but in M.Fr. they were Bohémien (see bohemian), and in Sp. also Flamenco "from Flanders." "The gipsies seem doomed to be associated with countries with which they have nothing to do" [Weekley]. Zingari, the It. and Ger. name, is of unknown origin. Romany is from the people's own language, a pl. adj. form of rom "man." Gipsy is the prefered spelling in England. x

Tea, do you know of any sources detailing the use of the word as a slur? That would be helpful for the essay I have to write.

EDIT: Nevermind. Apparently it was filtered through the Greek so I can't use it. stressed Though the above does not indicate that it was. Argh. I was looking forward to it, too! crying

oh hey guys. i'm sort of back? i promise this time i won't be an a*****e.

in recent news i am all moved into college, absolutely loving it. better news is that i am studying under a gardnerian coven in seattle, and i absolutely adore them.

today i found a piece of yummy fluffly goodness that included a spelling of "magic" that i have never seen before. enjoy, and try not to facepalm too hard:

Quote:
Read, and study, study and STUDY. I am a self taught Wiccan. Been one for a little over two years. Best decision I ever made (at 45). It is a very beautiful religion. God and Goddess aren't "angry" all the time etc. Yes Magyck works, but it is up to you to find out how and why. Think on the atomic level. How things are connected, etc
B-B

my school has a Pagan Student Alliance that has been dead for a few years. the university chaplain asked me to start it back up again. tomorrow i'm heading an information fest and discussion called Paganism 101 where basically i say what paganism is, what paganism is not, and describe a few of the major neopagan traditions. i am scared shitless.

....We just found out that, after his deductible, my insurance covers 90% of my husbands insulin pump supplies. And a new pump.

Awesome!!

The new pump is actually really neat. We'll only pay $250 for it, in three payments, and it can be used to constantly monitor his blood sugar, and adjust how much insulin he gets.

It can be his outside pancreas!

Being able to constantly monitor is really good, since you can start to catch stuff before it get's too out of whack.

This is ridiculous.

An offhand comment by my mother saying they'll help if I wanted to go for my Master's results in me looking at grad programs - in the beginning of my second year in undergrad. rofl

Truly excellent! My mother and cousin are both diabetic, so I have an understanding of what this means. My cousin has the pump and it works wonders for her. (Mom prefers the old-fashioned way... confused )
