There were a bunch of anti-Rroma protests in Slovakia, lead by an ultra-nationalist group. They keep shouting about "Rroma crime" and how they're all dirty thieves and a bunch of other nasty s**t about throwing them out.

I can't help but feel immensely ashamed at them. Fortunately, the magistrate called in 100 riot troops, arrested the people in charge for inciting racial violence, and sent the rest home. Same thing happened a month or so ago, except there were riots when the troops came.

So I got invited to this "Faerie" guild. Alot of people who believe in similar otherlings to the ones I do. I feel like this is a chance to redeem myself and share what I've learned about cultural respect, and set a good example for them.

Shifting down to part time hours so I can start thesis work. Last year of school begins before I truly go into the professional world.

Scares the freaking deoxyribonucleic acid out of me.

Maybe. Hopefully. It isn't a done deal yet.

Collowrath>> Myself, I tend to hold individuals, over cultures and societies, accountable for their actions.

Well, I'm still alive, imagine that.

Tea, funniest thing two days ago, had a person jump down my throat for correcting another person's use of the G~ word.
I was told it was their word and they could use it as they saw fit. Mind you, they were referring to Irish Tinkers whom they claimed were the original G~s. rolleyes
I couldn't help it... I made an OG joke right there.
I couldn't stop for about 10 minutes.

It's come up on the Cam lists as well. Also in reference to the Pavvies

Someone brought up Pikies (sp) as well.
Don't worry, I got after them for referring to generic dirt-worship as Druidry too. It was like Fluff-Fest '09, The Entitlement, up in there.
My husband's mother is Irish, FROM IRELAND, so I'm right.
It was classic.

Reminded me of you guys, having to deal with this all the time.

I know this is a long shot, BUT...

would anyone happen to know of a topic that with a good amount of research could span 10 pages? I'm looking for something not so deep that I've have to get a bajillion books on it, but is interesting enough that I could write about its different aspects while filling the page quote.

Oh ya. It's for my culture and sex in east Asia class, which is truly fascinating, but isn't really my preferred area of research and I have NO idea how deep a pit I'd be digging if I just choose a topic willy-nilly without having a good idea of how much research I'd be needing to do. There are other classes that are more relevant to my major/area of interest that I'd rather devote more time over.

That said I have a few in mind: sex-trafficking in China, Japanese love hotels, the population control measures and birth control of China, sexism in Confucian philosophy and a feminist critique of said philosophy, and state-created feminism during the Cultural Revolution.

Anybody? crying

Alright, my adjusted score on this last practice LSAT is 161!!!! And, it would be closer to a 163 or higher if my reading comprehension score didn't slip!! So, I can at least get about a 163 on the real test!!! Which would hopefully get me into at least U Pitt or Penn State!!

I was gonna suggest an explication on the following quote from David Hume in regards to the metaphysical nature of self or personal identity, from A Treatise of Human Nature (1789):

David Hume
I may venture to affirm of the rest of mankind, that they are nothing but a bundle or a collection of different perceptions, which succeed each other with an inconceivable rapidity, and are perpetual in flux and movement...

And then I saw this. Personally, I think the sexism in Confucian Philosophy and critique thereof would be a pretty interesting read.
