Haven't seen it here. Only in the M&R. Most times when that comes up the user will admit that they were wrong to use it, but I remember one in the M&R once upon a time who wouldn't let up.
This thread perhaps?

Please don't post to it. Fiddler killed it and I am hoping it stays dead.

I have lost a tremendous amount of respect for Shaviv over that.
Using appeal from ignorance is bad enough, using it to demote a slur to a mere political incorrectness, in M&R, as a Mod, without providing any kind of logical reason is fairly poor show.

And people wonder why I twitch over it.

Wish DV had caught it actually.

Wish DV had caught it actually.

And not taken part in the debate.

Actually, DV is fairly well educated on the subject- conpaired to most.

But a simple warning followed by a ban would have been better.

People are often want to run their mouths without knowing much about a topic.
People are also (more oftne than I like) inclined to defend their error, rather than learnign from it.
This is sad, but I'm slowing getting used to it... especially considering I'm as guilty as any others. sweatdrop

Now, back to Goth-and-Go (Hot Topic)...
My locality has gone almost completely to Grunge-and-Go... which is sad.
As much as it looks horrid on me... I like Gothic fashion, Puffy White shirts, Dark Overcoats, Corsets, boots... I can even dig when it ventures into light bondage territory... tasteful collars and chains... But Grunge...
Really... the Grunge-Goth offends my delicate sensibilities... and perplexes me as to how clothing based on dumpster diving and Bundeswehr Surplus can be considered High Fashion.

I remember when my Hot Topic carried that, too! Mine's become so mallcore that all you can get are CDs, T-shirts, and baggy jeans. Anything else, you get redirected to the online catalog. They're slowly becoming just Spencers with dimmer lighting (not surprising considering who owns Hot Topic). I wish my Hot Topic was still as cool as y'all's.

What's stranger is that so many of the kids getting into the Grunge fashion...were born the year Kurt Cobain died...it saddens me to think that Grunge is already considered "retro" to a generation who can now co-opt it.

I'm a fan of industry and tragedy, m'self - if I could lose some weight, I would so get a vinyl Cenobite trench...

Hellraiser was just good BDSM day-wear. 3nodding

I can deal with Industrial Goth... I can deal with Punk-Goth... I love Lolli-Goth on the right people... Victoro-Goth makes me all happy and Absinthe-dreamy... But Grunge doesn't mix with Goth so well... in my estimation... Goth seems deliberate... Grunge seems accidental, thoughtless, careless almost. confused

Thank you Nirvana, you were a decent band which became infinately more powerful by having your leader die...
He struck himself down... and became more powerful tha- [ended for the sake of what little good taste I have]

Oh well, there's always the Dickens Faire in San Fran this winter to get my Goth desires seen to. 3nodding

I'm actually quite loathe to go to hot topic anymore. All of their goth warez are way overpriced, one can never find a good pair of boots (or shoes for that matter), and now, my mall's hot topic caters to skaters and jocks...and apparently, "metal" is now in. (woo for pop metal...wofl mother, slipknot, and trivium are apparently the most metal things out there.)

My respect for their chain has dropped tremendously. I'd rather just go out and buy a sewing machine to make my own clothes. Victorian goth sounds so wonderful right about now User Image

Yep, Hot Topic has gone down several notches in my esteem...

What I wear, and what I find aesthetically pleasing on others... those are two very seperate things...
I'm a puffy shirt guy, I don't like constriction.
Also, as a stocky person, most corsets are not designed for my build...
Tea, I would never wish an eating disorder on anyone... I love eating so much... the idea of it having psychological issues attached to it makes me so sad... gonk crying

That jerkin you wore was pretty tight wasn't it?

I actually need to make myself a leather jerkin.

Would you like to have one where the fare is almost entirely uncontroversially anime derived? "I got my InuYasha shirt at Hot Topic. The Goths totally dig me now." Sadly, Utah Goths -do- reduce themselves to pathetically trendy fashions. They scream about being anti-establishment, then pad the ego of the right wing by making themselves into derision targets for the conservatives.
