<.<........>.> Hey all, after a long period of being attacked by school holidays and other random events I'm finally back on gaia. It seems like I've missed quite a bit so I'm gonna try to catch up with everything and get posting again.

Hey, I was meant to be back yesterday but got stuck in Bristol as London was a no-go. The trains going to and from London were cancelled or delayed (most were cancelled), most of the underground tube network was suspended or partly suspended as well...and all because of a freak snowstorm. It was the worst the UK has had in about 18 years.

20 inches were expected in the north of England last night. Apparently more is meant to be on its way. It was fairly clear today so I got from Bristol back home to Norwich quite easily.

Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Russia and Scandinavia may be thinking "pfffft! That's nothing!" but as we rarely get much snow at all we're really not prepared for it. Approximately 6 million people couldn't get to work in and around London yesterday, and hundreds of flights were cancelled.

I did visit their site and downloaded the software that allows me to listen to MP3 files on it. I don't see anything that will allow me to watch videos though...
I haven't felt like looking up skins for it cuz I'm more into the games and I don't use cheat codes.

Mel, and I'll put myself on the list of people finding the snowstorm amusing, but 'eh, I'm a Midwesterner. 20 inches, though, that is impressive.

Berz- I dunwannit to be March yet, I have too much s**t to get done before then! Like a lot of work on a giant paper of doom! Which, really, I'm finding digging through relations between different polities in 3rd millennium Southwest Asia more interesting than it probably should be.

Yeah, 20 inches, having to shut down schools, total havoc on the roads. In winter here in Wisconsin, we pretty much call that "Monday." Even saying that, last winter was a bit much. We got 118 inches, more snow in a season than has ever been recorded before. Back in December, this season, we actually got enough snow that we were on a pace to break that record. But things seem to have settled down a bit since, thank goodness. Berzie and cabin fever don't mix.

Anywho, to alleviate some confusion over what it was that I was excited and bouncing about, Gulf Wars is an SCA event in Mississippi in March. It's a mock war that takes place between the kingdoms of Ansteorra and Trimaris. My kingdom, Northshield, has decided to ally with Ansteorra this year. What that means in particular to me, as a rapier fighter, is that the fighting will be ten kinds of sweet. In the 5 years that Northshield has been a kingdom, it has distinguished itself in rapier. Meanwhile, Ansteorra is the kingdom that began rapier in the SCA. Result; rapier powerhouse alliance!

Well, like I said Gornwen, we hardly ever get snow here. Between December and February we usually get a few layers here and there and it never stays for more than a couple of days normally. So, when something like this happens, we're just not ready for it because 99% of the time we have no need. Countries that get a LOT of snow are prepared for it because they get it a lot of the time, and therefore school closures etc don't need to happen because of that. Wisconsin, like Berz said, for one.

So, really, it's amusing that when there's a weather forecast saying "we're going to get a lot of snow" the authorities should therefore start preparing for it. The snow we're getting right now is more than the UK has had for about 18 years, so, really isn't not all THAT funny.

It is rather sport in the northern states here to look at the usually snow-free places with amusement when they get even a light dusting and everything freezes up.


.... in other news, I have an interview with San Francisco State University tomorrow for their Museum Studies program, which I'm deadly nervous about. I'm really good at making a fool of myself.

But I will (hopefully) have a school to go to next year, and that is exciting.

Sorry I've been kind of absent the past week, everyone. I've been sewing like mad to get Victorian garb done for today. I managed to finish it, but nature decided to kick me in the butt and spread ice all over the roads, so I can't go to the thing for which I made the garb.

Even though my avatar is female, for she is one of my original characters from a series I'm writing, I am male and the person I'm marrying is female. We have set the date to December 19th.

There are firmware versions available for the card which enable extra features such as slow motion, save anywhere, etc. I use cheat codes to modify the behavior of the game in hilarious ways, after I finish the game and want to try something different with it. For example Street Fighter 2 for the snes with a Game Genie. We entered codes that made the computer opponent randomly change into a different character during the fight, and some other code that changed the soundboard of each character to another character's at random.

Really? I suppose I should look up the Cyclo DS site cuz I still can't have cheat codes on games that I've finished already like FFTA2. I also don't know how I am gonna be able to use the Nintendo DS browser if I don't have the accessory yet.

DA account got banned for some stupid reason, waiting to see if I can get it back, if not then I am very hurt and gutted that somone hacked my account and used it to hack someone else.

So...if it's gone then that means all of my rare items are gone.

If so...then this one is going to take over, but the name will change to Nightmare Wings

Gee Mandy, that totally sucks. I can't imagine how it must feel to lose all the stuff you had. Especially cuz I have no idea what kind of items you had on there. Say, what was yer most favorite rare item?

I hope you get that account back as soon as possible. Is there anything I can do to help out? Like a thread we could post to let mods know about the incident?
