I've finished and submitted my last writing project for the semester so now, hopefully, I can get back into the swing of my own vanity material. Now I just have to decide where to continue.

Vanity material, are you making a wiki page for yourself?

Yes. I've already had a portrait of myself painted and its hanging on the wall.

Ugh, instead of working on my writing, I've spent the last hour or so on this bridge building game. I'm stuck on level 7 and just can't figure it out.

I have two painted portraits of myself, and multiple drawings. My image has been recorded for posterity.

My dad is an artist and art prof. Things like this happen.

So, today I went to a job interview for some Marketing/Promotions company. Honestly, I didn't know much about the place or the job so I went to the interview more out of curiosity than anything. I read a book (a memoir) for one of my classes several weeks ago where the author took a job with a company that sounded very similar to the one that had called me for an interview so I thought that maybe it would be like that.

As it happens, gang, it was almost exactly like that.

In the book that I read, the company that the author worked for had sales teams going door to door to sell these coupon books to promote local businesses. The job I interviewed for was that, but on a larger scale. This place has its people go to events that are going on across the state to promote businesses. When the hiring manager explained this to me, I knew then and there I didn't want to work there as Headhunter is not a "people" person. People frustrate and sometimes infuriate Headhunter. Plus the the job was such that you only made money on commission, which I always viewed as akin to being a prostitute with the company you work for being "Daddy".

He continued on about the company (I think. He talked fast like the guy from those old Micro Machines commercials or Blurr from The Transformers. Coincidentally, Blurr was voiced by the Micro Machines guy /tangent) but from that point, I was only there for material. I was only there for about an hour, but in that time I got enough material to write a short story abut the experience. I'm just trying to decide if it should be a memoir or a work of semi-fiction.

Thoughts?

I'd say it should be a work of semi-fiction, where you take the job, and then become a serial killer
^.^

There's a lot of companies up here like that. It's sickening. I hate mowing lawns but... that's what I'm doing this summer instead. It's money. It's working around the weather, but it's money.

Try semi-fiction because then you can mess around with it a bit. Imagination is a wonderful thing!

... and I still love that av. Though I had a nightmare about Joker killing me two days ago.

Ya, books like that always sound like fiction until you realize that stuff like that actually happens. The world really is that screwed up.

On a note that is only related through the world being screwed up: Damn it, I have an abscessed tooth!

I hate shady job interviews. Although I have a job now, I'm already looking for a new one. The company is fine, and the work isn't half bad-- but I cannot make my bills working perhaps one or so day a week at just a smidgen above minimum wage--- I need regular hours, full time, and better pay.

Sales is such a nebulous term. You have legit jobs and then you have... swindling. I can't in good conscious be a swindler. I have an issue selling overpriced novelty items for fundraisers.

I wish you the best of luck, it's not an easy process, and right now it's one of the hardest times to be hunting for a job. I had wondered where you had been, it's good to hear from you again.

I was in a similar position last summer- but my move was only 230 miles from my hometown. Still it is lonely being the new kid in town, to add to the stress of job hunting. God speed.

Two points for now:

-I had to be up at 6 this morning, but I stayed up until almost 2 last night because I was looking over an outline for a story and decided it wasn't working. I restarted the whole damn thing to cut out one of the subplots and all of the characters involved with it so that I could narrow the focus and make for a tighter story and spent a good bit of time reworking stuff so I have an idea of what I was doing when I next get the chance to work on this thing.

-Because the job search is coming up with nothing and I've been sitting around bored out of my mind, the call to return to World of Warcraft has been strong.
