A magic shop just opened in the town where I used to go to college. I'm not sure if I should be happy or worried.

Illinois is still strange to me. I'm originally from a small Louisiana town and the atmosphere, people and weather, is so different. I like it up here though I miss the cuisine of my youth though, like red beans and rice, gumbo, and boiled crayfish. I mean yeah I can cook it myself but I just miss that the place that do cook these foods don't cook and season it to my liking.

Where in Illinois are you? My parents go to a cajun restaurant in Naperville a bit of the time.

DUDE, you're 45 minutes from me. I'm in Normal, and I've got a few friends in Chambana.
Does this mean the three of you will be coming out to ReCon? surprised

Does this mean you no longer have to deal with insurance?

I work for the top insurance company in the US. Suffice it to say, yes.

I have two more of these "classes" to take before they will pay for my grad schooling. They are free, just ....mind numbingly boring.

Hopefully the other classes are shorter, or at least not as tough.

They are the exact same format: get a book, get a workbook, study at your own pace.

Jealous! I was born in Santa Cruz. I miss that part of the world! Mountains, ocean, redwood forests... now I'm stuck in flat ol' Michigan!

Ironically enough, I just imported someone from Michigan.
You should come home. 3nodding

Congratulations Nuri. 3nodding

I have to agree with one of my ancestors, life is for the living. No greater monument can exist for those who have passed than one that lives and breaths.

Speaking of homelands. I miss the Home of my youth terribly. But it doesn't exist anymore. The building is still there, but even on my last visit before it was sold, it didn't feel right anymore. I went away, and it changed. The land was over-developed, the people had grown petulant. Even the storms, those beautiful, powerful and free spirits, that once gave me such joy and were constant companions barely dragged themselves across the horizon. The Genus Municips did not cry out... it merely lay there, bloated, distorted, whimpering. The new spirits there, the new people, they have nothing of the character of the original. The place that birthed me is no more.

I might be back. Perhaps for a short bit. I'm not sure.

Anyways, I'm trying to find a way to visit my old haunting grounds. It's risky, not just because my father may in fact become violent if he discovers I'm in the area but also because the group of friends I intend to visit had been poisoned by an unfortunately large number of the misogynistic folk.

I'm aware that the risks mount and that I don't have a whole lot of safe places in that town anymore. But I feel its a trip I need to make. If only for the closure of truly seeing that it is no longer my home.

I just acquired the Galactica season 4 soundtrack. smile It's AMAZING. The themes are much darker than the previous seasons, and a lot more religious in character (this is my own feeling, though).

You know the feeling you get when you walk into a place that is ancient, and you can feel it in its bones, in YOUR bones - and you know that place is past its prime, and isn't going to be around much longer? That's the overarching theme of the season. On the other hand, it's very ecstatic in nature.

It's definitely going in the playlist of "things to play while I worship." I like things that make me shout "ai alalai!" redface

Collowrath, for me, ancient places never seem "past their prime", so much as they seem to resonate in a deep way.
