True Colours of Destiny
So last Sunday, I found out something that made me want to smack myself. Apparently, my local temple has hired a teacher from India. To teach Sanskrit.

I wish I could have taken that class. gonk

There was an Indian teacher in one of the schools I attended over the years who spoke Sanskrit. He's, thusfar, the only foreigner I know of who could
a) pronounce my name properly
and
b) render Irish to a written form that properly replicated its phonetics. He could hear a word, write down some sanskrit letters and be able to reproduce the sounds well enough that I didn't cringe. Now, admittedly, he had an accent, but we allow for those things.
Turns out, Irish and Sanskrit share an ancestor and, ironically enough, it was this teacher who informed me that Irish was one of the oldest spoken languages in the world, it being a third generation language, most languages (other than English) are fourth or fifth.

A) Can I say it's ironic that every teacher I've ever had could pronounce my name properly, except for my Grade 10 History teacher who was Gujurati herself and one of the South Asian supply teachers? xD

B) Oh phonetics, how I hate you so much. I learned very quickly from my Hindi classical music teacher that even if he doesn't put an "a" at the end of a word like Ram, he still expects me to sing it like Rama. >_______>

Unfortunate by-product of Devanagari, an alphabet where every consonant is assumed to be followed by -a unless otherwise indicated. Great for Sanskrit, not so much for English. >.<

Also, Irish shares at least one major phonological quality with Slavic languages, especially Russian and Slovak. Then again, Slavic languages are more Indo-Iranian than they are Indo-European. We share more with Persian and Sanskrit than say, Latin.

And it had been,
We had loved so passionately,
Yet hated so much in.

We hurt others and ourselves,
But there was joy, and we,
Thru regrets and remembrances.
We knew we had been free.

Oooo... I found Alexandrite Beads!
Ooh! How vibrant are the colours?
Muted, but the fact that there is color change at all makes me swoon.
I kind of like it better when it's light green/pink. My ring is almost a light purple

My oven apparenly was not content with the 4th of July fireworks and decided to make it's own.

Time for a new heating element since my oven was on fire!

"We hurt each other yet we hurt ourselves
whilst our laughter echoed
under the cerulean skies"

That came to mind when I read that. Sorry if it's kind of random, or if it has absolutely nothing with what you were saying or feeling at the moment, but I just had to. Hope you're okay.

I'm under the impression that my ac unit isn't working due to
a) lightning serge
b) someone jamming a firecracker next to it.
geeez...
And man...The more people talk about college, the less I REALLY want to go anymore.

Purple is always a plus. I've seen some that are almost turquoise on the green side too.

I'm the total opposite right now. I'm looking forward to this coming semester like a kid waiting for Santa Claus. I've got Intro to Anthropology, German I language, World Hist/Civ II, and a critical thinking class, but the first 3 have me just mentally salivating.

Nah, we hit the circuit breaker once we saw the spark traveling. Maintenance is installing a new heating element as I type.

I'll look forward to college when I transfer out of my very expensive, though very low quality private Catholic university. :/

*offers Fiddler snugs*

My common offline name is easy to pronounce once I get peoples' minds on the right track with what it sounds like.

My online name, only Wing pronounces it properly; the pronunciation I give is mostly made up and weird, and by and large people call me Deo.

ninja I like it when people call me God.
