Sure thing! If there's anything else I can do, don't hesitate to ask. 3nodding

Greetings, greetings everyone.
Everyone well?

I've discovered that the desert could be fairly hot, dusty and dirty, but very much fun. Though being back in the nice, green midwest is most welcomed.

Hey Gornwen! How's our Eve cos-playing member? mrgreen I'm ok...

I haven't seen Berz but I did get a reply from her to a PM I sent her a while ago. 3nodding

Hey Fire! I haven't seen much of the Olypmics yet. I did catch a few soccer matches and Judo, I think it was... mrgreen

Sorry, folks. Surprisingly enough, I've been an Olympics addict. I didn't think that I would be, but there you have it. Been watching the swimming quite a bit (shirtless hot guys... and, oh yeah, exciting races) and I caught the women's sabre matches that they've been deigning to air here.

Should I be worried that I was actually yelling through my TV at an Olympic medalist in saber that she needs to keep her weapon up when she's retreating, or relieved that I noticed the mistake and can make sure that I don't do it myself? I think my mother thinks I'm absolutely insane after that.

This was the exchange, yesterday...

ME (to TV): Dammit, woman! Keep your weapon up!
MOM (sticking head out of bedroom): What are you yelling at?
ME: The fencers!
MOM: Why?
ME: She's giving up the line!
(long pause)
MOM: This is something only another sword person would get, isn't it?
ME: Yes! Dammit, stop dropping your point, you idiot! This isn't epée! It doesn't do anything for you down there!

Er... so... yeah. That's me... with the fencing... and... yeah... sweatdrop

Meanwhile, things are beginning to move on my Incredibly Busy Fall (tm). I think I'm going to be doing some major thing just about every other weekend in September and October and my August is also pretty busy.

Can't... keep up... with life!

Berz.

lol, I'm with you Berz, Phelps is doing well this year, seven golds so far, not bad! I wish they would show more of the martial arts, I'm a black belt in Taekwondo, so I was really siked when I saw on my tv guide that it was going to be on, but when it was time, something else was on. crying Oh well.

So, you do fencing? Cool.

There should be an event with tall ships in the Olympics!

I believe that it was being looked into a few years ago actually, but thus far, no word. The Tall Ships Races are held in Europe every year, but there are often regattas held and the same thing could be done in the Olympics. *Sigh* I continue to hope...

How big a waterway would be needed for that? Would it pretty much guarantee a need for a coastal city to be the host? For that matter, what about the logistics of getting the ships to the venue?

*laughs* That sounds vaguely like my family watching swimming... which both my sister and I did to one extent or another. Though we were more along the lines of "Swim faster!" "Kick harder!"

... Tall ships in the Olympics? How world-wide is tall ship racing? I think that would be the first concern there... then again, not every country has the climate appropriate for winter sports (even if they might have a bobsled team)... nor is baseball played world-wide.

Wow! So Berz has been watching the Olympics? I thought she was playing the rejected olympics, ha-ha!

I haven't seen much of it except for a few minutes of basketball, voleyball and other stuff. I haven't seen fencing yet. My mom doesn't get it, he-he. rolleyes

Hmm, maybe the tall ships thing could be done if instead of a race, they could make it so it was both a race and a challenge like, blow each other out of the water with the cannons. Ok, maybe I'm getting a bit silly there, he-he. sweatdrop

I'm all for having period sports in the Olympics. Sport fencing isn't anything like fighting with a real rapier, for instance, but that doesn't mean that either one of them is any less a valid sport than the other. And archery? Completely different today than it was in period. And where's hawk or knife throwing? Or jousting? How cool would it be to have Olympic catapult or trebuchet?

Hang it all, there totally needs to be period Olympics!

Hmm that sounds like a really cool idea. I particularly think melee and jousting tournaments would be interesting 3nodding .

Anyway I havn't been around much because I'm moving in about four days and in six I have to go back to school rolleyes . Not the greatest timing for me, and I've been kinda busy. Along side being so busy there are piles of great games being released and I couldn't call myself any kind of gamer if I didn't play them. So altogether I've little time for things like gaia but I'm popping in where I can sweatdrop .

Olympic trebuchet? That could be fun. Archery? They already have different shooting events, so that wouldn't be too hard to throw in.

I just got back from doing an installation at a customer site in Deutschland. Got to meet the son of my grandfather's younger brother's son. Was pretty neat. I'm sorry I haven't been around.
