I saw star trek yesterday!
Spock has never been so sexy. Chekov has never been so hilarious. Aliens have never looked so alien-y!

I loved it. ^_^

I might have a teensy crush on Chekhov. Which is worrying, because the character is totally jailbait. But meh.

It was very TOS, alright.
It managed to capture Roddenberry's wishes for what Star Trek would be. Everyone thinks that the sets were so primitive because it's what Roddenberry wanted, alas it was because it was what Roddenberry could afford.
Take a look at Earth Final Conflict, which was his vision for early earth future, though admittedly in another universe.

Honestly, I detest Roddenberry as a writer.
The marked improvement in TNG was when Roddenberry stopped inputting. I also detested the idea of status quo being forcibly restored.

I second that. There was something about the Taelons that I liked, though.

I totally agree! My sweetie took me out to a lovely Indian restaurant for my bday... though I think we're just doing bbq and bond fire for her on Sunday, but we've been going out to eat a lot this week, so I feel ok about that.

The week's been mostly good. The tent is going well, getting lots of quality time with my partner, but my mom is just crazy. She's been accusing my dad about stuff that he hasn't been doing, big things, like taking out credit cards in her name and the like. Not to mention, guilt tripping me about not spending time with her, when we can't go into the house, she's not around for most of the week, she delayed her flight a day, and when she has been home, she's been fighting with my dad. No mother, quality family time just isn't going to happen right now, not when you don't want to be family. But she'll be gone on Monday, so the week is almost over, and then it's back to life as normal.

I've been concerned that this is going to be my last birthday with the woman who helped raise me.

Taliah=Book Nerd

I bought two books the other day. ^_^ The Portable Nietzsche and The Communist Manifesto. When I went to check out, the cashier gave me a strange look, and asked me if they were for college, or if I just was interested in that sort of thing. Manifesto I can understand, though that was more for my boyfriend. But can't a girl read an insane dead German's philosophy for fun anymore without being questioned?

It's funny when the highlight of the day is getting a collab of 4 of Nietzsche's better known works (all unabridged), plus certain notes and letters, all in one book for $18.

Hey folks. *waves*

Yay for unproductive hiatuses.

I still have a job, but I'm no longer enthusiastic about it. XD I did get a year-contract, though, so, hey. Only eight more months to go.. *counts down*
