What really upsets me is that someone I respected and cared for has just tried to justify this guy's behavior in a way that basically tells me that my offense at the word shemale is trivial.
I'm really close to just leaving that thread entirely at this point.
Edit: She backed off and conceded on some things. |

Recursive Paradox Violet Song jat Shariff D: From the things I hear about that thread, I'm so glad I don't regular in there. *gives comfort* It's not as bad as most people set it up to be. It tends to be more a discussion of individual situations and experience with magic. The only time it gets bad is when people make stupid assumptions or fight about Wicca. You just see the worst of it because we only talk about it when things go wrong.
Eh I pop in there from time to time to see what's going on...and I'm still just kind of put off by it.
I think it's about 50% of not really liking some of the people there (not naming names, of course), and 50%....I don't know. It's hard to explain I guess.

Trolls aren't really that big of a deal.
You know they aren't serious and are just trying to get a reaction. Octane, Tererun, Funliver, Macai, Happy * Day, Vincent, Vagabond Vendor, Goatshow, etcetera. All of these people, whomever they might be in reality, probably don't have the views that they peddle in their trolling persona and are probably not nearly as nasty as they are on the forums in real life or elsewhere.
For whatever reason (good or bad), they're out to get your goat. Best thing to do is just not respond. Or have fun with the situation and avoid getting upset with them. Some trolls are phenomenal pieces of s**t and others are actually fun when you don't take them seriously. You've got to find the best balance between how you deal with them to be able to still enjoy the forum.
For me it's always been the regular bad folk of the forum, the actual bigots, idiots, entitled temper tantrum throwing children of the ED and GD that ruin it. Because these are people who actually mean what they say. That really do view groups of people the way they do. And that is just upsetting. |
