Well, the allusions to suicide damper it for some people.

I've genrally liked most of Nightwish's music.
Many of their videos are pretty good as well.
I do miss Tarja's vocals, but the split may lead to crative growth for both her and Nightwish.

Then again, I also tend to like Loreena McK.

I randomly found Dark Passion Play at Wal-Mart and it was an impulse buy. At that point I was only vaguely aware Tarja wasn't lead singer anymore. So hearing the other woman's voice was a shocker. Her voice has grown on me though, and DPP was a lovely CD.

Have either of you heard Tarja's solo album?

On another note, I believe I have unofficially changed my major to World History/Civilizations.

You should listen to others if you can, they're all quite nice, and not all are vindictive. smile Try Great Divide, Boy and the Ghost, and Oasis for starters, they were wonderful.

But then, I feel the same about Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Tori Amous and a dozen others.

Not a fan of Nightwish though. It's the style of music, I just don't like it that much.

Both Tarja and the new singer in Nightwish have lovely voices - but they're very different. I like Loreena McKennitt. Been listening to my dad's Dolores Keane album a lot when I was home.

Can anyone tell me what the price of the average CD is in British pounds right now? I might as well stock up on some more European music while I'm there. sweatdrop

Since we're all talking about music, I'm going to shamelessly promote an artist I met last night (he opened for Kimya Dawson) who has great music, great lyrics, and a sincere desire to connect with the people he plays for. I have never seen someone so happy when they sing, he was literally bouncing while strumming his guitar. Amazing guy.

So for anybody who likes folk/pop/rock or whatever, and live in Northern California, please check out Jonah Matranga. He's going to be at Hotel Utah in San Francisco on May 5th. 21+ though. Check out his website: http://jonahmatranga.com/lately/index.html

On there you can find his music on jtunes which is better than itunes. Basically his music cheaper. He's also the only artist I know of that sells his stuff on a sliding scale. My friend bought his cd after the show and he gave her a vinyl record with it for free. Then when I told him what a pleasant surprise he was and that I was smiling his whole set, he offered to put us on the guestlist for the next show free to save us some gas (it was an hour drive to see him). How cool is that? surprised heart

I went from Humanities - history concentration to Nursing. xd

Actually, this is my third major. The first one was stage management and theatre tech. 3nodding

I'm very diverse. I can build a two story set, paint it, build props, make it all historically accurate and provide backstage medicine when one of the actors throws said accurate props at another. biggrin
