I got incense
What kind?

Part of the reason I got it, we don't know. D: I will smell it to see if I recognize it when I get up. D:
Fair enough.

In other news, I've been feeling a bit... strange lately. No more Sutras for me.

Ok, I can't hold it in any longer! One of my mice had pups.
they're adorable!

Quoted for even more emphasis. 3nodding

Wow, today's work was fantastic.
Not only did I not have to deal with any idiot co-workers, but I also had a most touching moment.
This evening, as I was closing down the bar for the night, the woman who's particular convention I am tending for looked at me, then looked at the Convention Grounds manager, and then said: "We're getting Erich again tomorrow night."
The Grounds manager said" Yeah, probably."
Convention organizer: "That was a statement, not a question."
wink
It always does me well to know I have done a job satisfactorily. 3nodding

Cu, that looks nice.
I hope it didn't hurt too much. 3nodding

In writing my paper I took a gander at book 22 of the Iliad and was looking at the imagery used when Hekabe sees Hektor being dragged. The imagery used there, her veil being torn off and cast from her, is a common theme when a woman is being raped, because the first thing you do is uncover her so you can see her hair.

So watching her son's dishonour is like being raped to her. Oh Gods, that so sad. crying crying crying

Why do I even read book 22?

I'm not gonna PM her. It feels too cruel to set a plague like that on even a person as irritating as the handfasting jerk.

I feel bad I suggested it. sweatdrop

Looks like she found it anyway. xd

o_o

Well it can't be blamed on me. I didn't PM her.

Why do I even read book 22?

Catharsis.
Emotional purging.
Feeling something, no matter what, is better than feeling nothing?
If you ever encounter grief like this in the waking world, you won't be entirely taken off guard?

Signed it. I haven't had a lot of contact with the mentally disabled, so I didn't understand this on an emotional level until I read stuff on the site and watched Soeren's speech. Talking about his sister really got to me. I'm very protective of my siblings. If my little sister had an intellectual handicap and someone called her a retard, I'd be out for blood.

Well, in Hekabe's case there were kind of signs. Also she more just wants to eat Achilleus' liver raw.

Really, it's because I love Hektor and feel the need to see it through to the end for his sake if not for mine.

Are you at all familiar with the Shakespeare play Troilus and Cressida.
If you are a Hektor fan, you might want to check it out.

For my part, Hektor is right up there with Arslan, Cicero, and Irene for honour-names (middle names) on the very off chance I ever sire progeny.
It is tradition in my family that we provide children with a name that represents a Hero of history we wish them to draw inspiration from.
My family gave me the honour-name of Anthony, for Marcus Antoninus, or Mark Anthony, in hopes that I would grow to be loyal, passionate, and a great leader of men, equally strong with word and arm.

Sending a classicist to Shakespeare can often end in hair being pulled out. wink But I have heard of it. For the record, if I ever did commit to hero-worship, my religion would suddenly become syncretic. Not surprising given the Indo-European culture study I do. It's bound to happen. ninja

Just remember that Hektor has a tendancy to not take advice. wink Then again, it's not like Marcus Antonius was the most loyal thing out there either. He did kind of ******** off to Egypt.

Already signed.

Sadly the biggest fight for me will be against my own subconscious mind that contains those associations. x_x
