Zephyr smiled at Cerin.
"I'm sorry, please forgive me." He said, as he shifted into his dragon form behind an alleyway.
Catching up to Cerin again, he settled on his shoulder, wrapping his ice blue, crystal-like tail around his shoulders.
"Well, I'm sometimes in my human form. Usually when you disappear though."
He rubbed his fluffy cheek on Cerin's.
"Forgive me?"

⌠He sighed as the familiar weight around his shoulders settled, and Zephyr rubbed his anything but fluffy cheek against him. "Your scales are rough to rub against me but fine." Deciding on letting the inn to dry his clothes. "I forgive you, but please give me some peace." He walked in and approached the owner booking a room for one and playing a small extra fee for having a "pet" with him. "So far the only difference in the southern kingdom is the unbearable heat." He feeling a little underwhelmed by the differences as they went up to the room. The owner had provided him and an extra set of clothes to borrow while the cleaned his. "Ah, and of course that you seem to prefer your human form here."⌡

Zephyr had already wandered off, taking a seat on the windowsill.
There, he gazed out the window, into the distance, deep in thought. Just like how he used to do in the past.

⌠As he entered their room, he noticed that the blue dragon had finally wandered off again. "Finally quiet." He smiled happily and quickly walked into the attached room that had running hot water created from some elaborate magic system.

After cleaning himself and changing, he went downstairs handing a worker his clothes to wash and searched for the reptile. Spotting him, Cerin approached him. "Do you want to get food?" He asked looking out the window seeing a bee buzzing in some roses that had the dragon captivated. ⌡

Zephyr snapped out of his thoughts.
"Oh, on the topic of food..."
He pushed something toward Cerin.
A sparkling, icy-blue scale.
"It's one of my scales." He said, stretching his wings out before tucking them back neatly again, "If you sell it to a merchant, you should get a hefty sum for it."
He gave Cerin a bright smile.
"Sorry about our bags."

⌠Cerin picked up the scale slipping it into one of his pockets. "that reminds me when we were in the caves earlier I broke one of the crystals." He pulled out a small blue crystal. "Do you have any idea what they do?" He dropped the stone in the dragon's claw and picked him up, setting the creature around his shoulders before heading into the dining area. Once there he ordered to roasted hares for of them and water to drink. "They must have some magical ability to glow." ⌡

Zephyr pawed at the stone, watching as it responded with a faint pulse.
"There is ancient magic residing within." He said, as he tucked it underneath him, away from sight, "I would have to ask Ere- I mean, a friend of mine, haha." He nommed at the roasted hare, before he was suddenly picked up.
"Mommy! What is this weird birdy!?" A little boy said, as he dangled Zephyr by his tail.
His mom looked at him and the dragon in horror.
"I'm so sorry!" She said, bowing in apology to Zephyr and Cerin, "Put the poor little baby dragon down, child."
She turned to give her child a disproving look.
The boy pouted, hugging Zephyr to his chest.
"No! It's my birdy now!"

⌠Cerin watched amused as Zephyr's scaly face shifted from surprise and pain from the child pulling on his tail. He waved off the woman's apology, "It's alright." Cerin crouched down next the child squeezing Zephyr so much that his face was turning bluer than normal. "Hey kid, The dragon is useless. He wakes up before the sun rises, laughs non-stop, and gets into trouble non-stop. You wouldn't want him, but here." He held out the scale Zephyr had given him. "This is a scale from a dragon king tens times cooler than him! It can give you magical abilities." The child's eyes widened dropping the dragon on its head before snatching the scale laughing and skipping after his mother who thanked Cerin before leaving. Looking at the upside down the dragon, Cerin snickered. "Like I said, gets into trouble non-stop." Before helping Zephyr right himself and going back to his meal.⌡

Zephyr licked his wounded tail, pawing at the spot that he was dropped on.
"Children these days play a little too rough, haha-"
His eyes fell to Cerin, who took this chance to snatch a slice of hare from his plate.
"Wait a second...that's my hare isn't it?"
He pouted at Cerin, watching as he ate it while smirking at Zephyr.
When Cerin was about to steal another piece, he flew up, snatching it back from Cerin's lips, touching it briefly in the meantime.
"Punishment." Zephyr said, gazing at Cerin with a playful expression on his face, as he ate the hare slice.

⌠With Zephyr distracted, Cerin stole a piece of his hare still hungry after eating his. "No, I paid for both." He smirked at the disappointed dragon. It still lingered on his face as he went to take another piece. Cerin scowled in disgust when the lizard's face brushed against his. "Dragon breath." Gagging slightly, He wiped his face with the provided napkin. "I'll never take a piece of your food every again." He waited for Zephyr to swallow down the rest of the rabbit before standing up and stretching. Outside the sun had already set causing the staff to light candles. Letting the dragon follow him, Cerin went back to his room for bed. "Tomorrow, we'll explore the town and find out what has been happening." ⌡

Zephyr followed him back to the room.
"Good night." He said, smiling as he watched Cerin fall asleep.
Erebus. He called in his mind.
What is it, one who was once a human yet no longer.
This stone. What do you think?
He gazed at the stone in his claws, turning it over and over in the moonlight.
Cursed. Isn't it.
A deep laughter echoed in his mind.
If you knew, why did you ask?
A twisted smile appeared on Zephyr's face.
"Chain." He whispered softly, as the stone flashed, turning into a ice crystal necklace.
It floated toward the sleeping Cerin, attaching itself to his neck without waking him.

Why...I wonder.

⌠The birds were chirping, the sun was rising, and Cerin felt exceptionally comfortable in bed. After a month or so of traveling on the road, it felt wonderful to sleep in a bed again. Especially since the inn's pillows were the perfect size to hug, firm with just the right amount softness. He sighed sleepily about to doze some more when the pillow moved and wrapped it's pillow arms around him. Surprised Cern's eyes snapped open and realized what he had been hugging and thought was a pillow was actually the person from yesterday. "What?!" He pushed against the body tumbling out of the bed a tangle of sheets and arms. The sheet fell across his face which he ripped away glaring at the person in his bed. "Why are you in my bed old man?" He demanded kicking Zephyr in the side. "You were supposed to sleep on the couch, and why are you in your human form?" It only added to his embarrassed and flustered state that Zephyr was currently shirtless.⌡

Zephyr blinked, stretching sleepily.
"Ah, good morning, Rin Rin!" He said brightly, his hair all puffy and messy from the sleep, "You see, I got really lonely last night, so I couldn't resist! Plus, your bed seemed really comfy and warm."
He tilted his head at Cerin.
"Well, I can't snuggle with you as well if I'm not in my human form. You'll end up squishing me underneath, haha~"
He walked over to him, still shirtless as he extended a hand toward him.
"And I'm not an old man, remember? I'm still a youthful twenty year old."
He gave Cerin a smile, as he offered a hand for him to get up.

⌠"I don't like snuggling..." He mutter reluctantly taking Zephyr's hand. Zephyr quickly pulled Cerinup to his chest grinning cheerfully. "You're older than me, and you've lived with my family for generations. It's too early to be happy" He pulled away pleased to see that his clothes had placed outside the door cleaned. Zephyr waited in the middle of the room still shirtless, watching Cerin attentively. Cerin followed his line of sight to the stone necklace around his neck. The chain was icy white making the blue stone's eerie glow unsettling. Something about it churned his stomach and reminded him of something, but he couldn't quite remember. Touching the stone was cold against his skin and pulled his eyes toward it. "So what does is special about the stone?"⌡

Zephyr gazed at him with a strange expression on his face, before smiling.
"Those that one seeks to be fulfilled, shall be fulfilled." He explained, not really saying much, "It's a promise chain. For the future."
He got up, still shirtless as he quickly washed up, and then headed toward he door.
"Let's get going then! Adventure is out there-"
Before he could leave, he was pulled back by Cerin.
