Anyone here ever stepped on a wasp, bare-foot? IT'S NOT ******** FUN.

Yes. And yes. God that hurt. I've also been... stung/bit? by a horsefly on the fleshy part between my thumb and index finger. That probably hurt worse, I think. Although wasps and bees hurt like hell.

gonk @ asian hornet. It's glaring at me... and it's telling me, "You're next b***h!" ...and dear god at the venom info. Why wasn't this hornet brought to people's attention years ago when everybody started going to Japan?

Me too! I need internships and money.

They are evil. Then again, I have full on apinophobia. Bees, their meaner cousins, and sometimes flies extract screaming, irrational crying, and arm waving from me. Doesn't help that one once followed me ACROSS TOWN as I cowered in the back corner of a bus. It had like 40 chances to fly out the window.

And I do mean cower. I'm sure I got funny looks.

So now you all know Celeblin's kryptonite. It's bees.

Usually I freak out around flies if they look like bees. I dunno if it comes out as a phobia for me but I generally freak out pretty bad from them. x_x

I don't know if it's related to my fear of needles, which probably is a phobia because I literally go into shock and lose consciousness when I get shots or bloodwork and actually see the needle go in. o_o

Or think about it going in too much. That's happened too x_x You see, when I think about a needle going into flesh, I then think about it breaking into tiny pieces underneath the skin and then I think about those pieces traveling through the skin...

and now I need to stop because I'm getting dizzy...

I've gotten stung in between my index and middle finger, on my ankle and on my arm.

My yard used to have hornet nests in the ground, enough actually that on a given sunny day there would be about thirty of them patrolling my backyard. Nothing could save you if you went and mowed the lawn.

And people wondered why I refused to go outside in the summer.

OH. We had freaking earwigs too. ALL OVER OUR BACKYARD. Earwigs are terrifying freaky creatures. I got onto this climby swingset thing once and hundreds of them started pouring out of all its nooks and crannies and openings.

I have never ran that fast or screamed that loud in my entire life. x_x

Earwigs look freaking SCARY! gonk Although, I did a bit of reading, and apparently they have no venom or real pinching capabilities. They just look seriously nasty.

The idea of creepy bugs crawling all over me is a really terrifying thought. Whether they can hurt me or not.

Earwigs? I'll have to google that too, because that does not sound familiar at all.

EDIT: Eww... Gives me the heebie geebies like when the screamy blonde wench from Indiana Jones was in the bug infested room.

Does anyone else find making up playlists something that could be used romantically?

Anytime I confront an irrational fear in myself, I get pissed and feel moved to correct it. I have a standing promise to myself that the next time I see an earwig, I'll pick it up to prove to myself just how irrational my fear is. (I'll let you know whether I manage to follow through. sweatdrop )

For the record, I consider an irrational fear to be a fear of anything that can't really hurt me that much.

NOTE: Weirdly, I have no emotional fear of needles or shots, but I still almost pass out every time I get blood drawn. I get dizzy, become nauseous, lose my vision, and my hearing goes muzzy. Can't say I know quite how to cure myself of that.

Needles themselves don't bother me at all. However, leaving them inside to draw blood does. I donated blood when I was a senior in High School, and I swear it took me an hour to get done. The machine kept beeping because it was going so slow, and they made me roll a ball in my hand to increase the flow. Made my arm so sore afterward, and nearly drove me insane while it was in. neutral

Better off than my boyfriend though. Poor thing can't even watch House with me because of all the needles and stuff. He gets all weak and dizzy.

@ Gho/DB: Yes. ^_^

Wiki
# The venom contains at least eight distinct chemicals, some of which damage tissue, some of which cause pain, and at least one which has an odor that attracts more hornets to the victim.
# The venom contains 5% acetylcholine, a greater concentration than is present in bee or other wasp venoms. Acetylcholine stimulates the pain nerve fibers, intensifying the pain of the sting.

I'm really sorry guys, I didn't mean to traumatize everyone. sweatdrop
There are scarier details about them if you want, just look at Cracked. I figure, as I have already started this I might as well take it all the way.

Oh, and I have been stung repeatedly.
A relative of mine knocked a hornet nest down from our home while he was repainting it, it landed on me.
I'd rather not talk about the rest. sweatdrop

I would apologize, but the damage is already done.
To make that seem less dangerous tho, or at least put it in perspective, Weather and Miscellanery that is far worse, and possibly more likely to affect you, unless you are in Japan. At which points the Hornets may actually get you first.

Edit:I really meant for that to help, but re-reading it, all I can think is how today I feel especially doomed, and I might be just exasperating the situation. Well, at least the Large Hadron Collider isn't a Bee. sweatdrop

Sorta like the whole Camel spider surprise many of my former comrades got in Iraq.
They still swear the thing was the size of a greyhound, and reminded them of a zergling from Starcraft more than any natural creature they had seen.

Then again, we also have Krackens that were once thought to be myth. Seriously, some of the stuff I see in the research wing at the Monterey Bay Aquarium looks straight out of a horror flick.

You know, maybe I should make a map of the world festooned with Here There Be Monsters all over the place, each a link to the most vicious TTYTSNB (Thing That You Think Should Not Be, a spin off of my gaming group calling Beholders, Atropals, and Illithids TTSNBs, or Things That Should Not Be) in that area. idea
