It's so hard requesting time off for religious holidays that last more than one day.
It's almost like the idjits can't understand that it is more than the day, it is an entire series of events that must be done.
So used to market holidays with their nice neet packaging, custom designed to accommodate business.
The same sort of shocked and appalled look that I am given when I suggest that the world didn't end, and would have continued along alive and well, even without cel phones.
They get so caught up in the unimportant, they ascribe urgency where none is needed.
It's like the entirety of their world is built upon the illusion of significance.

*snuggles* It's a lot of things. It's hard for some people because rapidly shifting values based squarely in secular consumer culture can make it hard for people who do not already have a firm background in other significance (be it religious, family, or whether crops will grow) have a harder time understanding when people prioritize differently.

And then, there's always kicking them if they continue to be stupid. Yay, kicking.

The most direct way to deal with s**t, for sure 3nodding .

I'm so confused as to how Seraphimia can keep editing her OP. I can't even find her silly self on the members list.
Why doesn't she just respond in the thread like a normal person rather than editing her OP?

You don't have to mentor them if you don't want to. It'd depend upon how you view your faith and how you view the one attempting to be mentored. Is it the idea of mentoring that scares you or is it that you're not sure you could trust Etherism being put in the hands of this other person?

I wouldn't call it fear. I just feel uncomfortable with it. The whole thing is getting bigger than I expected faster than I expected. I had thought I would have a few years to write a book and then leave that out there and go hide somewhere and live my quiet life.

I dunno, I guess I just don't like a lot of attention. Makes me feel exposed.

Don't do something if you don't feel right about doing it. While sharing knowledge is generally good, it shouldn't come at the expense of the one giving it. If it's not really in your interest to share it with her at this moment in time, that's fine. Just make it clear to her that you're not really comfortable with what's going on.

What. The. Hell.

It took me, my roommate, and the two girls across the hall from us 3 hours to do one Excel assignment, when it should've only taken us an hour. gonk rofl

So, currently in my World Civ 1 course, we are discussing Greek culture, ethics, democracy and philosophy.

He dicusses Socrates, and I realized something that I had known, but hadn't fully articulated in my mind. I am reminded of Ms. Tea, profoundly. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Just thought I'd share.
What makes you say that?

What you just did there. 3nodding Asking questions, asking more when answers may or may not have been given, then more questions. Also, you tend to roam the M&R doing that, and from what I understand, Socrates was either beloved or hated by those he came in contact with. May be a shallow comparison, but I was reminded all the same.

The letter arrived a week ago.

There has been no response to date. No letter, no email, no phone call, nothing.

You know those packets you can put into microwave ovens? The ones you heat up, and then put in your pockets?

Yeah.

It feels like I've got one in my foot.

Except it's not warmed up. It's just.. plastic.

Went to the hospital and they gave me a shot. In my foot. "This'll hurt."

"Oh," said I as the needle went in, "That's not so ba- .. Okay, that is."

Four weeks from now, though, the scar tissue that's apparently the cause of my lack of nimble footness ought to have cleared. No running the marathon just yet, though, but if you had a hotpocket in your foot, you wouldn't either.

Balance is tricky.
