Fiddlers Green It's so hard requesting time off for religious holidays that last more than one day. It's almost like the idjits can't understand that it is more than the day, it is an entire series of events that must be done. So used to market holidays with their nice neet packaging, custom designed to accommodate business. The same sort of shocked and appalled look that I am given when I suggest that the world didn't end, and would have continued along alive and well, even without cel phones. They get so caught up in the unimportant, they ascribe urgency where none is needed. It's like the entirety of their world is built upon the illusion of significance. *snuggles* It's a lot of things. It's hard for some people because rapidly shifting values based squarely in secular consumer culture can make it hard for people who do not already have a firm background in other significance (be it religious, family, or whether crops will grow) have a harder time understanding when people prioritize differently.
And then, there's always kicking them if they continue to be stupid. Yay, kicking.

Recursive Paradox Gho the Girl You don't have to mentor them if you don't want to. It'd depend upon how you view your faith and how you view the one attempting to be mentored. Is it the idea of mentoring that scares you or is it that you're not sure you could trust Etherism being put in the hands of this other person? I wouldn't call it fear. I just feel uncomfortable with it. The whole thing is getting bigger than I expected faster than I expected. I had thought I would have a few years to write a book and then leave that out there and go hide somewhere and live my quiet life. I dunno, I guess I just don't like a lot of attention. Makes me feel exposed. Don't do something if you don't feel right about doing it. While sharing knowledge is generally good, it shouldn't come at the expense of the one giving it. If it's not really in your interest to share it with her at this moment in time, that's fine. Just make it clear to her that you're not really comfortable with what's going on.
