Anyone mind giving me their opinion on my thesis paragraph for one of my research projects:

In the six hundred years since the invention of movable type, the world of publishing has experienced many changes. Initially used for religious texts, the printing press has moved to create both secular but informative works and then later on to entertainment. Even so, a new technology may soon be able to challenge Gutenberg's invention in importance to the written word. Electronic publishing is presenting a new challenge to the publishing industry by threatening to change the way people think about books; evidenced by the recent trends in ebook wholesales, a recent the dispute between Amazon.com and Macmillian Publishers, and the growth of independent, electronic book publishers through services such as Smashwords.
Fairly good, but I've edited a few things (in red) in your quote. 3nodding These are only suggestions. Use or don't use as you please. 3nodding

Wasn't worried about editing yet, but thank you! And I'm mostly wanting to know if it's focused enough that my paper won't blindside my professor. I mean, he knows I'm discussing epublishing's effects on the publishing industry, most illustrated by the Amazon/Macmillan thing, for my macroeconomics class.

Somebody asked me why I wasn't going to dress up for halloween this year. I wanted to tell them I dress up all year round, why do I need to do it for this holiday?

Instead I ended up telling them that like christmas I'm a scrouge concerning this holiday as well.

Well, there you go! 3nodding I have decided that I'm not dressing up in costume either; I was offered to work Sunday, but I'm not and here's why...

I had an interview scheduled for today at 9:00 am (a GROUP interview, something I've never done and didn't know it was happening until I got there) and I was hired on the spot! mrgreen I felt it was not neccessary to show up to my current place of employment (Pizza Hut) only to tell them that it would be my second to last day (my last day will be Tuesday). So I showed up in person to tell the manager I would not be working Sunday and I would be leaving after Tuesday. Needless to say, I will miss the tips and being on my own; but this will pay $8/hr and I'll be working more days (and more hours)! blaugh

Oh yes, and for those of you keeping track, Frankie comes home tomorrow! (A ragdoll, adult cat that we are adopting; no worries, I will post plenty of pictures as soon as I take them all. I will post some here and on facebook. 3nodding )

Okay two very random things, but hey that what this thread's for, right? 3nodding Anyway, if you're friends with me on Facebook check out my latest photo album there; I added one with all these cool pictures of our cat Frankie! mrgreen Secondly, I probably will be scarce for the next few weeks, especially around American Thanksgiving because I am working Black Friday (4:30 am -- WHO'S BRIGHT IDEA WAS THIS?! scream to 2:00 pm -- oh well, at least I get off early) and we're really busy getting things together I also have a dentist appointment the day before Thanksgiving. confused Oh well, such is life! This also means my avatar will not be changing much if at all. I will probably change her around some time next week, but most likely it will stay that way until after Black Friday. Anyway, as Tigger says, TTFN -- ta-ta for now! blaugh Wooo-hooo!

Frankie is a male verison of my other cat Abby! If he's anything like her, you'll love him for sure.

Stomach flu's are awesome! You get an extra day off of work where you get to do nearly nothing except give offers of suplucation to the toilet god, and attempt to sleep! *grumbles editted profanties for the next few hours.*

Hey gang, question for you all:

Does anybody else find the idea of the Uncanny Valley to be really interesting?

It's a concept I've only learned about recently but I'm probably going to do a school paper about it, and I've got a story idea brewing too.
