yeah, I mean menu and start button. I got real good at that when I had a *thinks* third gen.

I tried restoring it on the PC, but everytime I try, itunes and or my PC freezes up and never regains function. I'm thinking of figuring out how to format it for the Mac, so I can be totally free of my PC. No friends with macs, unfortunately.

Throughout all of this, I get absolutely nothing on the Ipod screen. Nothing until it starts working (fully charged, even). It's pretty much a brick up until that point.

It's working right now, knock on wood, and providing me with excellent, uh, .....audiobooks. Yes, audiobooks. We'll go with that.


Oddly, it tends to do this after prolonged exposure to my state farm badge. Huh.

You could try restoring it through another user on the PC when it is recognised, but formatting it to the Mac requires little else than plugging it into the Mac and having the Mac recognise it as a Windows-formatted iPod. It will give a message that either says it's formatted for another system or synchronised with another library before telling you to format it or restore it in order to use it with this system.

That does mean your, uh.. your audiobooks - them things, yes - will be removed from your iPod.

If it's not recognised on the Mac, but it is recognised on the PC, what you could try is turning off the Mac, plugging in the iPod and turning the Mac back on.

Given the symptoms your iPod is displaying I can't promise this will actually make it recognise the iPod but it's something you could try, definitely.

If you want to try restoring it on the PC - especially if it doesn't work on the Mac - and you can't get it to work, what you can also try is reinstalling iTunes on the PC, especially if it freezes, but it's easier to just do it in another user account cause then there's no chance of anything happening to your user library. (There shouldn't be any now, either, but there's stories of certain types of customers..)

If you do want to reinstall iTunes, you should know it's a bit of bugger, and aside from installing iTunes also leaves the following programs on your PC, which you should probably remove as well when you want to do a clean install;

*Quicktime;
*Apple Mobile Device Support;
*Apple Software Updater;

So that's four programs in total.

There's something else, that you can have a look at, but it's too early for me to remember the specifics and I really ought to go to bed now. XD;

Oh, my ipod works fine usually on my Mac. They get along very well except when the ipod decides to go on hiatus. And my music files were the first thing to be transfered over to the mac when I got her.

The windows formatted ipod (Aoide, that's my ipods name) works better on the mac way better than it did on the PC. This is because my PC was a piece of s**t. Still is!

And my ....audiobooks are awesome for listening to on the way to work. There's something about fanfic being read to you that is amazing.

Ivory, Brown, or something else?

Brown.

It goes with your hair without running the risk of flushing you out like ivory can due to the lack of contrast between the clothing and your skin. And my head sees you in darker colors.
