Yeah, there are unemployment benefits here, too. But I massively don't qualify. I only ever worked part time while I was in school and I still live with my parents so I don't have any housing or food budget to have to worry about much. Plus, the way in which I stopped working was ambiguous at best (the last thing my former employer ever said to me was "stay home on Monday and I'll call you when we want to work out the regular schedule, now that busy season is done." Then I never got called... I still have a key to the place, even!). I don't know if it was a firing, a lay-off, or what. And to make things even better, they hired someone else who called me up about two months later to see if I could sub for her and have subsequently had Now Hiring signs up in their windows. It was quite a way to be treated after they approached me to work there in the first place and I worked for them through a very stressful move and a building fire during a busy season. Needless to say, I'm kinda pissed at them. And the final insult is that they way I was treated means I can't get unemployment benefits.

Mel, travelling the world seems like the best reason to dip into one's savings. Then again, I think almost any money I save is to go to some nifty trip somewhere.

*sigh* I've started my job search. I really don't want to go into the office tomorrow morning, but I must; I'm allowed to telecommute three days a week, and am in the office on Mondays and Thursdays. It's at the point where my raise was SO bad, and no bonus, that I also have to find a second part-time job. The local tack shoppe is hiring, and if I could get in there that would be cool. smile Maybe I'd get an employee discount!

*Woah* - this is like job search central in here... apply at Gaia - work online all day ... but you have to deal with uber noobs... *shrug* - - apply at Google... also work online.... - - - by the by - I'm back from my vacation!!!

My sister had the baby the day after we got back!!! ((So I never actually got to see the kiddie...))

...but two 24 hour drives with the dog is not very cool - - - he stays awake as long as he can, then passes out - when something wakes him up - it jolts him and he attacks whatever is in a half foot radius... keep in mind - we were in the car......

I think my sister may have lost a finger or two to the dog... She calls him Cujo now... ((In case you haven't read the book, it's a Stephen King novel about a rabid dog.))

I also went to MegaCon - In FL... and my sister won me an Ancient Katana!!!!

Amazing what an insane number of papers I don't want to write does for my guild activity...

Oh gosh! Cujo! The only reason why I got that reference was because my friend had an insane dog who went by that name. I prefer it when the crazy animals are smaller than me, like my cat, who if need be I can just pick up and kick out of the room.

I saw some gorgeous ones at AnimeBoston. Including some of the small ones (the ones with magnets in their feet) dressed as the FF:AC characters. VERY nice.
