Random Musings pt. I: First Blood

Actually I think it's so hard to define gender roles, especially since many of the things we believe to be "male" or "Female" depend on culture and age. Also, it's the particulars of the person.

I'm a believer that some degree of androgyny leads to a more well-rounded person. Traditional gender roles of western culture are very narrow- if you are androgynous by those standards then overall you are very balanced. (I.E. You can cook AND use a table saw... yay!)

One of my co-workers was asking me what kinds of things turned me on when it come to guys. When I told him I prefered more submissive guys, he gave me a blank look and asked me what submissive ment...Then further explained when he discovered my surprise that he didn't read the dictionary. crying

I can grasp that other people have a preferance for guys being the sub. My brain just refuses to grasp the concept that me, a high school dropout who doesn't read the dictionary, knows what the word submissive means and my co-workers don't...

New book I'm reading: The Vampire Archives 1: Blood Suckers.

Current opinion: It is good.

Longer thoughts:

This book is reminding me why I became a fan of vampire stories. The opening story is far from typical, and well worth it, a good opening, and thus far there was only one story I have not had the taste for. A spectacular story called "The Sea Was Wet as Wet Could Be" reminded me that sometimes even the most lighthearted images can bring terror. For those of you who like that subtle horror that only great vampires give, I would definitely suggest this book.

Anyway a situation has come up, and older brother syndrom wasn't a good mode to be in. So a few things have been said that could lead me being absent for a while.

Headhunter- I had theorized/joked that when Starcraft II came out that South Korea would fall because the entire nation would be consumed by the game. I am relieved my prediction was wrong.

Chi- I hope everything turns out ok.

So, I'm finally reading the Harry Potter series. It's so pleasant to read for enjoyment. After having to plow through pages and pages of dry material for classes I've discovered that reading is not my enemy!

I start my last semester (ever, most likely) next Tuesday. I suffered through my final math class last spring and it should be smooth sailing.

The road ahead looks very grim and bumpy. I am not looking forward to this one bit. We are in need of a new central unit (A/C and Heater) -- the whole sha-bang! confused This means we will be around $8k in the hole by next Tuesday morning (just in time to see my doctor neutral ). I suppose this means I'll be limiting my time online, on my cell phone, and more for several months until we bounce back to roughly where we are now. I'm guessing it will take about 4-5 months, so about Christmas or New Year's; this also means I will not be able to buy MCs which I heart so much. emo I would like to plead and beg with you all to donate to my family, but that's aganist TOS for Gaia I think. Even so, I do at least ask you to pray, send positive vibes, etc. to my family as we go through this very hard time for us. This will be one of the lowest points in our financial lives we have ever come thus far; and all this without Daddy makes it all the harder. I am scared and yet some how confident we can do it; I just hope it will all work out. The only way I know you can keep in touch with me is through postal mail in these next few days, weeks, months ahead. If you want that info., I'll be happy to PM you as long as you tell me before this coming Sunday. Thanks in advance.
