Indeed.
I remember the rattling of my home rocking me to sleep as a child.
Not surprising, as I was born during a Thunderstorm, intermittent power outages at the hospital and everything. I've always found storms soothing. 3nodding
I especially love the green the sky sometimes turns before a storm, and the feeling, the energy in the air...

Huh. I wonder if being born during a thunderstorm is a common predictor for loving storms. My mom says my birth was accompanied by a thunderstorm back in Texas.

On a related note, I can't remember the last time we had this much snow on the ground. There must be 4 or 5 inches! If we've got this much in eastern Washington, I wonder how much they've got to the west? I should take my dog out in the desert tomorrow to follow rabbit tracks again. ^_^

Whar exactly? And was this recently.

Possible weird coincidence.

I picked up my last set of it when I was in St. Catherines, Ontario during the latter period of my dating Tay.

I believe it was a few months before s**t hit the fan in that relationship, so maybe about a year ago? Why do you ask?
Because a Teopia opened like a year and a half ago here, in Windsor. So I was like, weird.

But Space there is on in Windsor, and other places too.

I don't think Windsor and St. Catherines are all that close to each other in ON, are they? I was under the impression that Windsor is a bit closer to Detroit in Michigan than Buffalo and Syracuse in NY.

It's that damn province's fault for being so freaking huge. >.<

...wait...

...I didn't know you lived in Ontario! o_o I should randomly visit you or something.

I think my biggest pet peeve in the tea world is on the subject of " masala chai tea". Proper masala chai tea is not made up of actual tea. It's made up of ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, white and black pepper, and well, masala. No "tea" in there. xD

My mom makes it properly, she always has it mixed up and ready to make.

Oh, they joys of being South Asian. xd

Except... Masala Chai means Spiced Tea. Not only is adding tea redundant ( Spiced Tea Tea?) but the drink originated in India.

Heck- in South Asia, the term chaiwalas still stems from the Chinese "Cha" or "tea".

The first Masala Chai was made with the wild tea leaves of the assam varietals.

Hell- the first Masala Chai recipes come from the Vedic period- and include the assam plants.

What do you mean when you say it includes "masala"? Masala just means spiced in the same way curry just means sauce. confused

I don't know what else my mom puts in her masala chai; it's such a mix of spices that I know there is a lot more she adds into her than what I listed.

My mom has a tin full of spices and one of them is masala and garam masala. The second being uber-hot spice that my mom rarely uses. xD

Okay quick question for any takers. What are your impressions regarding transgendered people?

Does not compute.

Depends on the person in question. I think I know five of them- all from Gaia and all of them are vastly different people.

They be people? And as such, deserve to be treated as such? And you know, acceptance, legal crap and all that s**t. I support people to be themselves, whether its transitioning or not.

I actually can't remember why I asked that now. o_O

I think I was upset about something that someone did or said related to me being TG....

So according to my mum I've "gone native"--that is, after twelve years here I'm apparently an OFFICIAL Nebraskan, rather than a Southerner (where we lived before coming here) or a Brit (where we lived before NC/Virginia), just because I went outside in five or six inches on snow on top of ice on top of snow in slippers and a t-shirt to take out the trash. And apparently "going native" is a very, very bad thing if the place in question is Nebraska. Sigh.

Don't bother me unless they are nasty people.
I'll argue their rights to have a sex change any time.

For christmas my friends bought me a tea pot with some loose leaf tea and a tea ball ^_^
....how do you use a tea ball?

What is this GLUG?
Also, I have a Swede moving to the U.S. next year, upstanding fellow, even if we haven't talked in several months.

I'll have to ask around, that's a good question, Mute Coyote.

Human.
That's about it.
I hate making the divide of me as opposed to them, but I don't think I am, so forgive the use of the exclusive here.
I believe they have a much stronger attachment to their gender identity than I do, which confuses me. I am male, however, I do not feel strongly that it is such an important thing. I have little commitment to my gender, nor much real desire to change it. I don't identify strongly in this regard. If a person has decided to alter their body to better reflect their identity, I imagine that gender plays a much larger role in their mindset than it does mine. This makes most of my observations on them, of necessity, from a point of extreme ignorance.
My own personal experiences are limited to 3 persons who I am aware of, several youtube video web loggs, and reading Venus Envy. All of which have been very informative.
On general philosophical principle, I encourage people to define themselves in their own terms, so I must support the idea.
Also, you might try cardamon in that blend I mentioned earlier, as it was mentioned here, and my Persian friends highly suggest it.

I have observed this too. But it dosen't confuse me as such.
To be general, gender is such an important thing to them (them sounds so rude 0_o), and yet it's so controversial that it will raise strong feelings.

It's similar to how I'm very quick to defend minority religions and gay rights. Like....I'll have to stop myself punching you if you start being an a*****e about homosexual style quick to defend. confused
Those issues affect my life and those around me.

Gender however, is not an issue so I give it no thought. I've never ever given it much thought. I'm pretty feminine as it were, but I'm happy to blur the lines sometimes.

A little too much beer and additive packed alcopop last night means this post probrably makes no sense. I apologize. xd

Well that's the thing, gender isn't important to all of us in the way you're thinking of it. In my particular case, I was just trying to deal with my gender identity disorder before I drowned myself in lethal doses of pills or something.

Ugh I hate the name they gave the diagnosis. There's nothing disordered about my identity (I don't even really care that much about pronouns, names or self expression), there's something disordered about my brain expecting a female body instead of a male body and freaking out when there isn't one there.

I mean the only reason why I identify as a woman is simply because the treatment for this thing is going to restructure my body to pretty much as female as you can be without yanking chromosomes (and i really don't care about XY vs. XX to tell the truth) It just never seemed that intelligent for me to take all the hormones, get the surgery and remake my body to be female structured (fixing the dysphoria) and then walk around with male pronouns and my male name. >.<

I don't even remember why I asked what everyone thought of TG folk, but I guess it does sort of bring up a good topic, namely how much I dislike such a big deal being made of gender roles, gender expectations and gender in general...

I'd bet that without those things to constantly remind us folk with GID about what bodies we're in, we wouldn't be so screwed up from it. Or at the least, maybe some of us with less severe dysphoria could avoid risky transition. >.<

Sorry, rant done. >_>
