I don't know how we'd be able to help with the technicalities of photography (like mechanics and cameras etc.) but we could at least give some feedback on lighting/composition/etc.

I've done a bit of basic photography. So I know a few minor things. But beyond basics, I'm not sure if I'd be much help on the photography technical side. But as Tirael said stuff like composition and contrast and stuff has the same concepts no matter the medium.
