I know how it feels to lose a cat. Since I was a toddler I've lost 5 cats. Theo is our 6th.

This is Theo...

And this is my dog Benji...

Theo is 5, going to be 6 in June, and Benji is 9 and going to be 10 on October 31st. Yes, the dog was born on Halloween - perhaps that's why he's completely insane?

The pics were taken on my mobile.

My foot is getting there slowly. smile

Hey Gornwen! Yer welcome.
But you know, my Princess wasn't a cat, she was a lovely German Shepherd dog. She was awesome! I still have pics of her on my photobucket account. I might post them on the anniversary of her death. I don't know... rolleyes
Really? Disfunctional kidney? As I recall, she died from a tumor in the kidney or something, how odd, huh?

Hmm nice cat Mel!
I love yer dog more though, he-he. mrgreen
Reminds me of the star of that TV show, Benji.
I'm also glad yer foot's feeling better. 3nodding

As for me, my birthday is going well. I actually got my favorite kind of cake, yeah! 3nodding

My favorite kind of cake is almond with marzipan. 3nodding

And thanks! Yesterday was pretty good too. Even a friend of mine came to visit and I got quite a few phone calls from family members.

BTW, this is one of the pics I got of Princess:

And that's what used to be the big garage in our house. Wasn't she beautiful? I always used to call her like that. mrgreen

Almond with Marzipan? That sounds gorgeous!

*is embarrassed...* Yeah, definitely a cat person, and therefore unless clearly specified I assume all animals are cats... But she was a beautiful dog, german shepherds are quite likable.

So, July babies have to beware of kidney problems... strangely enough, I have a friend who is also a Cancer who almost died before she was born because her mother had kidney failure when she was pregnant with her...

Mel, Theo looks so happy! That is most fun!
And yeah, definitely also a multiple feline family for all my life. If wasn't for the fact we aren't able to live without them, I would wonder why my family keeps putting themselves through the loss. And I do love the logic as to why Benji is insane. That's beautiful.

Yay! Foot healing!

So - did you get the presents for your birthday that you wanted?

I am afraid I am one of those all-around animal loving persons. Cats, dogs, even a FEW cold-blooded ones - although I prefer most of the cold-blooded ones to stay out in their environment and just be observed! 4laugh

Almond with marzipan... yum... do you like it with almond flavouring in the batter, and marzipan instead of frosting? That would be my choice. smile

Princess is a lovely dog. I want a German Shepherd myself... one of these days....

I love all animals too, but have to admit I'll love snakes and iguanas from a distance. smile They're beautiful, but they squick me a tad. smile

I definitely have a soft spot for snakes, always have. I consider them to be one of the most elegant animals there are.

*man!* do we have a couple conversations going on at once!
~ and Hypno! *look behind you and points!!!!* THERE GOES ELVIS! *steals cake*

- and to generally add ... I'd have to say I'm a dog person. I do love all animals. My friends used to call my house the Zoo. Rabbits, turtles, cats, dogs, fish, various birds (big and small,) hamsters..... and my four younger siblings.... all at the same time..... I kid you not when you walk into my house the noise level goes up a couple decivals (however you spell that.) If you like quiet - my house is not the place for you - although -

Our African Grey Parrot can sing the Darth Vader theme song as you're walking in. He can also sing the Close Encounters of the Third Kind song as well - a few other choice songs - Andy Griffin Show... stuff like that.... He can also wolf whistle -

*laugh* - and His name is Gandolf the (African) Grey!!!

I used to work for a software company owned by exotic bird breeders. We had Moluccan cockatoos in the office with us, and one African Grey who could pick up whole conversations VERY quickly. He was taken home to their place after he recited the entirety of a rather angry conversation they had had--with voice changes so you could tell exactly who had said what. Including... naughty words. *grins*

I'm so out of it today. I had dental work done on Wednesday; they found and cleaned out a very bad hidden infection. Oww... so now my whole right side of face is swollen and just killing me. Thank heaven tomorrow's a holiday in the US...

Gornwen:

Yes, it is amazingly yummy as well. Of course, it doesn't help if you can't eat almonds or if yer lactose intolerant (I think). sweatdrop

Don't be embarrassed, we all make mistakes. 3nodding And yer right, German shepherds are likeable indeed. But I have to say my Princy (I used to call her that sometimes) was adorable. 3nodding There wasn't anything about her I didn't like. And you know how most animals have some sort of thing that can drive you crazy but, you can tolerate it if you love them enough. Sure, Princy was afraid of loud noises like, thunder and lightning bolts for example; but it wasn't something that could drive me crazy either. mrgreen I'm always gonna miss her... cry
Snakes are cool but they're not my favorites.

MsRose:

I actually didn't get any presents for my birthday that I wanted (I only got one) but I did get some real nice virtual ones like the one you gave me. I may not be wearing it right now but I love my vampire hunter hat. Thanks so much! I'm jumping for joy, seriously! 3nodding

Jasta:

Well, I think that my cake was exactly like you describe, with marzipan on the outside instead of frosting. It was amazing! I just wish Fauxlorne hadn't gotten away with it. rofl
And thank you Jasta! She was the most beautiful German Shepherd of all. 3nodding
So you don't like snakes, huh? I guess we all have our likes and dislikes. I even got to handle a tiny snake in my room last year. I was really surprised to see a small snake in my room as I had never seen one up close. Since I can't tell the poisonous ones from the regular ones, I went to pick up some oven mits and handled the snake that way. Since there was no place I could put it in, I just went ahead and left it on one of the vacant lots we have on my block. I hope it got away just fine.

That's some story Jasta. I had no idea African Greys were like that...
Gee, that's tough. I hope you feel better by the time you read this. 3nodding

Fauxlorne:

Yes we do! It's great to have conversations like these. mrgreen
Elvis you say? I don't care about that! Wait a sec, OMG! I'm gonna get ya for that! *runs after Fauxlorne and steals a kiss from her* lol

Ha-ha! We had a friend who used to work in a zoo so we used to see her bring over an animal or two from time to time. We also had birds, fish, hamsters, white rats, etc. I even remember seeing a croc (or maybe it was an alligator, I don't know) one day cuz it couldn't stay long. One time, I remember my mom actually bought an owl cuz some guy was selling it near the drive through window at McDonald's. We had it for quite a while and it was cool.
Hey, if I had a greyhound, I could call him Gandalf. Ha-ha! Get it? Gandalf the greyhound! Ha-ha! rofl
PostPosted: Mon Jan 21, 2008 2:49 pm
I didn't even think of naming a greyhound Gandolf... *laugh* - that is such a good idea...
- I'm going to tell it to my mommy... then we'll have two Gandolfs in the house... *fun!* and everyone be aware - Hypno is a kiss thief...

- - so today I'm at work at the airport again. MY other co-workers have seen famous people in this shop, including: Billy Corgan, Steven Tyler, John Malkovich, Jane Seymour, Mike Ditka - basically a bunch of people in various rates of fame...

.....I've yet to see any of them.....
