Thanks for the one I just received, but as my random musing of the day:

It seems, no matter who I tell or how loud I scream, saying I don't do valentine's day gets ignored. It's a fairly interesting phenomenon.

I guess the logic is you don't have to celebrate it to be a victim of it. xD I don't value April Fools Day, and yet I always get targeted.

As for me, I just got back from my first yoga class. I'm both refreshed and in pain since I held poses which aren't natural to my body yet. Increased bone density, here I come!

I'll probably be sore tomorrow.

But Fox, no one doesn't do Valentine's Day![/sarcasm]

I don't do Valentine's Day either. Even if I ever manage to find Twue Wuv, I am aware that the perfect day does not exist. Nor would I want the perfect day. I'd much rather have little shows of affection through the year than have someone do something for me on one day because it is a social requirement.

Plus, Singles Awareness Day just sucks. My way of marking the day is to hide.

I've found that I will not let Hallmark tell me I am inferior- therefore, over the years I've decided to take back February 14th. I take their holiday and I turn it into mine, all mine, MUAHAHHAAHAHAHAHHA HA. When I'm single it's a time for my friends to get together and celebrate being single- instead of feeling bad whenever myself and my gal pals are sans mate, we make the most of it. Those have been some of the best Valentines ever- no offense to love, but fun with friends rocks.

Now that I'm involved I tend to not let the day totally define who I am, but I also kind of like having a holiday for things like this. I've pretty much told my boyfriend not to bother with any creepy singing teddy bears- to be honest that stuff seems so annoying and I'd hate for him to waste hard-earned money on it. I do like having some sort of signal that says "hey kids, be romantic". I'm in the 9th circle of hell right now with my graduate work, so it takes a holiday before I can spend time with loved ones without coming off as irresponsible.

Holiday = valid excuse to spend time with a loved one instead of studying.

On a completely and utterly unrelated note I will be on a brief get-away with my boyfriend Saturday night- Monday. <.< '>.>

Well, my reasoning is I'm turnign 24 on Sunday, and I don't intend to waste the one day I can be spoiled and petulant because I want to be. Call me mean, but I've put up with this valentine's thing for 23 years, just once I want a VDay that I don't even remember the holiday exists.

You are very fortunate that I have too little time to make a holiday special comic. Your story is the apex of all bad holiday tv specials.

I think I have a plot for my next Yesterday's Tomorrows game.

Headhunter

The Life and Times and Headhunter: Snopocalypse edition.

- After 7 years of loyal service and over 80,000 miles traveled together, I finally put my 1997 Toyota Camry to rest about two weeks ago. It was pushing 170,000 miles and still going strong. I'm going to miss that old war horse.

- I got a silver 2009 Corolla (It was made in Japan, not the US. It isn't affected by the mass accelerator pad recall that you may have heard about) that same day and she's a sexy beast. Just needs some new speakers.

- I'm extremely annoyed. In about a month or so, Megadeth is coming to town with Exodus and Testament as supporting acts. Two months later, Sia Furler, one of my favorite singers, is also coming to town. The problem lays in the fact that both shows are going to be played at the same venue, who has a strict "No Cameras" policy. I had never been to a show at this place before, but talked to someone who has and he told me they acutally pat people down to make sure they aren't bringing in cameras. This is a bunch of crap. I want to see some of my favorite musical acts and I can't even document the experience? I'm having serious doubts about dropping money for the tickets now because of this. I understand having ruls against, say, bulky Digital SLR cameras like the professionals use but I can't even bring a dinky little 100 dollar point and shoot? ******** really?!

- One of my classes this semester is a history class about American Intelligence organizations (FBI, CIA, NSA and so forth). Most interesting class I've had in a very long time.

- As you may be aware, the East Coast got dumped on by old man winter with two storms that basically amount to about 7 GODDAMN FEET of snow over the past week. When you get slammed with enough snow that it could play in the NBA if it had autonomy, there's a problem. I already hated winter before, but this seals it. Headhunter is moving to the Southwest one of these days.

- I think all forthcoming games can pack up and go home. I'm calling Mass Effect 2 for Game of the Year.

- Since I should be done with school by the time it rolls around next year, I'm thinking of heading to Mardi Gras.

At least you weren't born on Feb. 29. xD I feel for you, though. I sort of understand since my birthday falls two days after Christmas, and my mother's birthday falls one day after Christmas. Believe me, that has its own share of problems.

I third the sentiment.

And Headhunter, your class reminds me of my CJ on terrorism class. Was definitely one of my favorite classes to date. :3

So when exactly do people celebrate their birthdays, if they are the unfortunate one to have a birthday on February 29? I always thought it would be around 11:59:59 (if you know what I'm getting at), but then you wouldn't really have a huge celebration because it's just about a second before it's March 1. confused I really would hate to have that birthday. xp

As for my random musings for the day, the three of us (my mom, Steven, and I) went for our usual walk around the mall today and I got to wondering about Daddy. Does he really miss us; does he even notice we're not with him? I mean I don't normally think about such things because we're always so busy, but for some reason this year things seem a little different. I keep thinking about him. Mom even asked me at breakfast this morning if I recalled what she got him for his last birthday present. Quite honestly, I don't even know what I got him. I only recall the birthday card I got him. sweatdrop Why am I thinking about him this year so much? What is so different about this year as opposed to last year? neutral Hmm...

lol

I almost didn't get that. xD

Random musing for the day: I find it kind of funny how my brother makes fun of me for buying things just because I loved them as a kid, such as the DVD boxsets of the entire She'ra: Princess of Power series, and yet now, while he's salivating over the old Nintendo Entertainment System, he can't see that he's doing the very same thing. I'll be buying him a refurbished NES with all three Super Mario games for his birthday (this upcoming Saturday), but I won't be giving it to him immediately. He will be made to suffer long after he admits his guilt, for that is what older sisters do and something else which I still enjoy from my childhood. Only that costs me nothing. It's like something from one of those "priceless mastercard" commercials. (:
